Yeah, I get that. And he's boiled over in the past when his emotions have got the better of him. But he doesn't strike me as being unstable, just hot headed. I can't recall him ever doing something crazy like biting someone's ear or repeatedly hammering them in the nuts or jump kicking them or anything like that. You sort of know where you are with Vitali.

I dunno though, I haven't looked into his eyes during a staredown.

I know you didn't. What I meant was that generally the most intimidating fighters I can think of were those whom you were on uncertain ground with. Tyson was scary because you knew he could snap at the slightest provocation. You could feel the tension through the television screen. Imagine what the opponent must have been feeling. With Vitali, he's a dominating presence but I never really feel scared watching him.

THE TRUTH

Vitali took the fight on just 10 days notice.

Vitali was clearly winning the fight 4-2 on all 3 scorecards at the time of the controversial doctor stoppage. Lewis barely survived the 2nd round, he was badly hurt, holding on for dear life, wobbling everywhere and staggering around the ring like a drunk. Lewis was badly hurt several times in the fight and was getting outboxed, outworked, outmuscled and outlanded by Vitali.

Lewis was exhausted, worn down and hurt from the accumulation of punches and was ready to get KTFO again, he collapsed onto his stool at the end of the 6th round, Vitali was clearly the fresher of the two, he was a man on a mission and would've KO'd Lewis for sure if the fight had continued.

After the fight, Vitali intimidated the shit out of Lewis and made him look like a bitch.

All the fans at Staples Center cheered for Vitali and booed Lewis after the fight.

Lewis promised Vitali a rematch.

Vitali destroyed Kirk Johnson in 2 rounds and called out Lewis again in the post fight interview. The scared Lewis retired shortly after that fight.

Lewis turned down 30 million dollars for a rematch and retired like a coward because he knew he would get destroyed by Vitali.

Vitaly, at least for me, always struck me as three hairs away from berserk rage. Like he is likeable, goofy and somewhat personable, but this a very thin layer of civilization over a raging berserk. You can see these glimpses of madness when he fought Lewis, Williams and recently Solis, when Solis fell and would not want to get up Vitaly went ape****.I think his opponents feel it on a subconcious level and thats where the fear comes from.
PS you can also see that rage in a recent ukrainian senate lockout when Vitaly just started pushing people away left right like they were keggles.

At 44 professional fights George Foreman actually had a higher KO% than Vitali Klitschko does. He of course would go onto have almost 40 more professional bouts until the age of 48.

So what at 27 FIGHTS Vitali had more than him.. Big George certainly had the record when he retired in the 70's & even in his comeback years he was koing everyone early on.. so yes you could probably find certain points in George's or Vitali's career when one had higher than the other... with that being said.. how many did he Ko more than him.. one or 2.. In my eyes Vitali ONLY really failed to knockout 2 fighters.... timo Hoffman & Kevin Johnson.... Lewis & Byrd.. injuries & cuts robbed him of Ko's & in the Briggs fight.. corrupt ref & criminal cornermen let Briggs fight on... perhaps Vitali should've bought those people to the lewis fight as Briggs was physically more spent than Vitali was when they stopped the Lewis fight. Bottom Line is how you finish against everybody. Vitali fails to Ko adamek & Rocky Marciano assumes the top position.
