You guys have to read these articles more often instead of the snippets. Victor said he met her 7 months ago. Thats before the Berto fight. So he wasnt rich then, hell he even stated he isnt rich now. After the fight he will be but not now. Personally I think he sought out after her and he forgave her but disappointed in her actions. You can tell cause he describes her as "the Lady" instead of his mom.

seven months ago was was january/february...when berto/ortiz was being rumored as happening....actually the fight was being talked about since january,about seven months ago...anyways thats not the point,victor was still a boxer making decent money and she knew he would probably make more or atleast a good chance,,,,why didn't she try to reconnect with him when he was in school,a teenager?? even if it was him who looked for her why did she accept,why didn't she as an adult back when ortiz was a little boy think about reconnecting with him then?..it reminds me of that soccer player from italy,mario baloteli

Damn...I feel a certain connection to Ortiz. On some real ****, my father abandoned my mother and I when I was 8 and I didn't see him for 6 years. He came back into my life when my grandpa (his dad) died.

It was a process but I finally forgave him about a year or two later after spending some time with him and getting to know him. That **** is hard

And granted, I was like 17 at the time and wasn't in Ortiz's position. I hope this woman didn't come back into his life with a sob story looking for a handout when the opportunity presents itself. I'll stay with the glass half full outlook for this kid

i don't think i'd be able to forgive her, but good for ortiz, hopefully it just stays in the past now. wouldn't want to hear about how his mom is trying start a close relationship with him now. i just hope ortiz doesn't ever give her a single penny

Posters on this thread are saying she's looking for money, but the source didn't say that she got in contact with him, it may have been the other way around?

The other thing is her 'husband' could have been abusing her or in fear for her life, it often takes something bad for a mother to leave her kids.

I'm not saying this to come out in her defence, but it's important not to jump to conclusions about their private lives, perhaps the ensuing episodes of 24/7 will reveal more.

Me neither. She probably seen him on TV, realized that he was her son and just seen $$$$ signs. I'm actually not sure if I've heard of anyone doing something so sick. She just up and left her two kids for no reason when they were at school and didn't even look back. She didn't even check on them or send for them to come to where ever she lived. I'm not a parent yet, but i couldn't imagine me being comfortable somewhere not knowing where my kids were and knowing that i left them with an irresponsible drunken alcoholic.
