I think the Abraham DQ was called for. . . It was so blatant it wasn't even questionable. You could literally see Abraham pause for a second, and then in frustration just clock him with that uppercut. Im sure Dirrell did put on a little bit, but I have no doubt that getting drilled like that off guard with all that leverage working against you (when you're grounded and opponent hovering above you) would cause enough wooziness to make it unfair for you to have to continue.

What's the rule for hitting a fighter who is down?

In the Abraham fight with Direll - it was kind a bad. Abraham punched Direll while the opponent was down not moving at all. Some people say Direll was acting but who knows. So, the referee DQ him.
To the Pacquiao fight, I am not sure about that one because Marquez was really down on the ground with has back on the mat attempting to get up. Pacquiao just punched Marquez back to the ground. I think Cortez was too slow to break the fight for a 10 count. Marquez trying to get up, Manny hitting him in his attempt, and Cortez slow as a snail couldn't do anything. Probably a warning should happen for hitting Marquez while he was getting up. Or as other people say in the referee's discretion.

If you are a puto coward who has no balls like Direll and you give a hollywood style performance and you have a crap referee you will get DQ'ed.
A normal ref and a normal fighter will just warn you or MAYBE take a point away.
if dirrell was faking his injuries he's got the best chin in boxing
he was on his knees and helpless, and abraham hit him on the jaw and sent his head flying around

I think that if you hit the fighter and hes is immediatly unable to continue, its a DQ
I also think that if the ref believes the fighter can still continue, he can give him 5 min, like a low blow
But it all depends on the ref

It's up to the ref, and it's a foul that is too often unpunished.
Sometimes it depends on how the guy who gets hit reacts, if he can't/won't continue.
Lennox Lewis hit Mike Acey when he was down three times. He got a warning. Likewise for Sakio Bika against Jaidon Codrington. Bika was warned. Bika hit that other guy when down once, and got DQ'd.

Abraham hit Dirrel when he was down and got Dq'd for it
Barrera hit Marquez when he was down and got a point deducted and his knockdown wasnt counted
Pac hit Marquez when he was down and got away with it.
So it all depends on who the ref is, who the fighter is and how cowardly the guy on the florr getting hit is. If he is like Montel Griffin or Lorenzo they will try and get a DQ win. Most guys with heart fight on.
