Now I thought the rule for hitting while on the ground is an automatic DQ?

There was something about Marquez holding the rope, the reason why Pac could not be given a DQ.......I forgot.

The reason I asked was, cuz Abraham got an automatic DQ when he hit Andre. Do refs treat this as a case by case or is hitting while on the ground an auto DQ.

Im not sure about the book but its obvious thats it at the refs discretion solely. There are no warning for hitting while down.

          Its the ref's discretion.

If you are a puto coward who has no balls like Direll and you give a hollywood style performance and you have a crap referee you will get DQ'ed.

A normal ref and a normal fighter will just warn you or MAYBE take a point away.

This is correct. It is solely up to the ref at the time of the incident. We have seen Tyson on a few occasion's hit an opponent while he is down and not suffer any consequence. He also hit Orlin Norris after the bell and the fight was ruled a NC and not a DQ.

Then we have the case with Roy Jones where he hit a guy and was DQ'd on the spot.

We all remember the fight with Lorenzo/Soto...

It all depends on the situation and the referee.

Joe Cortez is one of the worst Ref's in boxing. It proves what a joke the HOF and Boxing is when one of the most "Respected" Refs is the dumbest person in the world.

He is so clueless its not funny, he's also a huge attention whore who thinks he needs to be part of the fight and people come to see him.

Shows how bad Boxing is that there is no central authority for Referee's and that they never get tested/penalized.

Why not tho? Screw up a bunch of fights and become a joke among fans and you get into the HOF! Why NOT!
