    Gatti vs Vargas

Good matchup. We see two warriors fighting one another. After many years in ring, both have turned to a more defensive style of fighting.

Who wins if they met at catch weight?

    I say Gatti. UD12.

Gatti would beat this guy up worse than anyone, not so much in the dominating way but just beat him up, Vargas has never fought a pure brawler like Gatti and I dont think he would know how to handle the constant pressure, assuming we see the prime gutsy Gatti

i know, but vargas is still young, if hes fighting like he was a few years ago, he will win, becuase vargas still has the ability and the youth to fight like he used to.

Vargas by KO. Gatti does not have the strength to keep Vargas off of him or to KO him. Gatti is simply not big enough to deal with Vargas. Gatti is a good little boxer when he chooses to be but not good enough to keep Vargas off of him.

Some would say Gattis better and more durable than Castillejo. Why KO?

Vargas would completely outclass and dominate Gatti...

                  gatti does not
Yeah, Fernando is only 28, so he should be at the top of his game, but I think the beatings he took from Tito and Oscar really took a lot out of him. Technically he should be the younger, hungrier fighter, but if they did meet up, I could see him be tentative against a warrior like Gatti.

Even though Gatti is 33 now, I think he might still be able to press the attack and land the bigger shots more often against Vargas. If both met as they are right now, I think Gatti could brawl his way to a KO against a more cautious Vargas, or even box /punch his way to a late stoppage or victory.

Vargas being bigger would certainly help him. But when Gatti fights guys who don't jab much, he has success. Vargas hasen't shown to me that he can establish an effective jab. His jab was decent against Castillejo, but not extremely effective.

However, if Gatti is the same Gatti who tried to box Mayweather and Vargas returned to pre-Trinidad form, I think Vargas would get a big win. As it is though, with both fighters the way they are right now, I'd have to say Gatti. Unless Vargas shows me a lot more in his next fight, I can't really say otherwise.

                    Vargas by KO

                    Exactly.

Anybody who says different needs to clear the stars out of their eyes (I mean that in the least malicious way possible). Even this older, more hesitant Vargas would completely dominate Gatti. Gatti is an above average fighter at 140 and is a club fighter at 147. Vargas is too big and too skilled to be troubled by Arturo.

Vargas by lopsided UD or mid-late TKO.
