Would De La Hoyas career been more succesful if it wasn't for his personal problems?

If he would of adapted a HOPKINS style of living would he of been better and had a longer career? Absolutely!
But you have to remember Oscar was a MEGA star back in the day, I would say he was bigger than Floyd and Pac are at this point. Mainly because boxing was thriving more but he was huge. He made has dozens of multimillion dollar paydays, and even with floyd he made over 50 mill. Thats alot of success and not everyone can handle it, when you have so much money and resources available some temptations are to great to pass.Comment

There is absolutely NO proof that any performasnce enhancing drugs Mosley may have used, aide his performance. In my opinion they hindered it. He was certainly much slower in that fight, and his win in the 1st fight was mainly because of his speed. He won #2 because he completely changed his game at the half way mark, going strictly for the body, where Oscar is especially weak, and he was doubling Oscar up with t.solid body shots, enough to win each round.
The "thunk" of each shot landing made me think that Mosley's fist could come through his back at any moment, Oscar lost that fight but he was courageaous enough to last out. I didn't think he would, as he kept crouching over more and nore as the fight went on, making it obvious what was wrong with him. I was expecting him to drop at any momenComment

Personally I always felt De la Hoya was a studier of the game but not as talented as Shane in his prime. He was good at adapting though and seemed to switch up depending on who he was fighting. Plus he had that weird Uppercut/hook that was pretty devastating on whoever he hit with it. Personally I felt he won that 2nd shane fight but whatever. He lacked the drive though. He was a really good fighter but he lacked passion for the sport. It just seemed like something he was good at but not who he was. Oddly enough I feel his style is pretty close to being the style that can beat floyd but he was far from who he was by the time he stepped into the ring with him.Last edited by Shogunofharlem1; 08-31-2011, 01:06 PM.Comment
