Would De La Hoyas career been more succesful if it wasn't for his personal problems?

Reading about what he was going thru behind the scenes all these years and thinking about certain close fights he could have won (Trinidad, Mosley) and other fights that he lost but perhaps could have won or put up a better performance if he wasn't going thru what he was going thru (hopkins.. Pacquiao) .. Do you think his drug problems got in the way?

I really like De La Hoya by the way and I have nothing but the utmost respect for him and I actually think he could accomplished a lot more as fighter if he didn't have those distractions/problems in the way.

Do you think we would have seen a more competitive De La Hoya in the Pacquiao fight.. or the Hopkins fight? Or different results in his close losses?

    What's your opinion?

I wasn't aware he was having drug problems and such before he retired. I would bet he would have won the Mosley rematch if Mosley didn't have a certain advantage. Beyond that I have no idea, but it does seem like he could have focused more at times and if he was having these issues, it certainly could have got in the way. I am a fan as well and hope he gets to a better place in his life.

Oscar won the rematch regardless, it wasn't even close in my opinion.

It's hard to say. Really good question. I think sometime after the Trinidad fight he really began to fall off, he lost the love for the sport and realized he could maximize money and only fight once a year.

Because Mosley was using performance enhancing drugs, and he still needed a gift to be called the "winner"

                And, Oscar wasn't?

What's taking so long to sign the waiver?

Oscar won the rematch IMO. I remember we had this big party for the fight, almost everyone was rooting for Mosley except one of my buddies. When the fight was over and they were going to announce the winner it was quite as heck because everyone thought Mosley lost. When they said Mosley had won my buddy who was rooting for Oscar got so pissed he went outside and kicked the front of his car but cut his leg on the license plate and had to go to the hospital. LOL, fun times.

We KNOW for a FACT Mosley was using, thats an advantage, you guys can speculate all you want but you wont find Oscar on tape saying he used.
