    Robert Helenius... heavyweights beware!

Just saw some clips of this guy and admit I never heard of him until the other day. I have to say he looks (not physically) like the real deal. I am surprised more people aren't throwing his name around. What I have seen (limited at best) he could give ANY of the top HWY right now a serious go! I want to see this cat stateside ASAP!

Clip of Samuel Peter KO! WOW!

He struggled with a shot, undersized Hw brawler with a shot chin in Samuel Peters (who never was that good in the first place) and Liakhovich, a 36 year old fighter who is a jurneyman in this stage of his career, (ranked 66 in the very weak HW div) coming of a 1 1/2 long layoff and they were winning on the scorecards until the KO.
    Yes, a big threat....

Helenuis is huge size wise and have good power. He still is a prospect and haven't really had his chin checked so relax with the hype just yet

Of the numerous hw prospects I've followed through the years now, Rob Helenius seems like the more promising one. In just 16 pro fights, he's fought and beaten impressively, some very good competition. And he seems like he's getting better and more confident in each successive fight. IMO he's the biggest threat to the KBros right now. He's got devastating power, decent boxing sklills, he's patient and paces himself, he's got a good chin and he's good finisher. His style is also very entertaining and fan friendly.. Really, what's there not to like about this guy?

I haven't seen much of him, but would like to. Maybe he is nothing to get excited about, but he has few names on his list that I was surprised to learn he beat.... even if they are at the tail end of their careers. At any rate he might be exciting to watch with his apparent power.

He's not an African-American, so there won't be any shortage of people here who hate his guts as he gets more exposure. He already has the scalps of three past champs -- Brewster, Peter and Liakhovich -- but we have people suggesting he hasn't fought anybody. Comical and sad.

I like him but I get the sense they're going to rush him way too fast and he will be yet another guy we HOPED would be a challenge.

good skills offensively though. Wonder about his stamina he looked a bit sloppy and gassed at times in the Liakhovich fight

From what I've read of Helenius and his management, they have no intention of rushing him. Fights against the likes of Liakhovich, Peter and Brewster were calculated moves based on his strengths against those type of fighters. There are no delusions of him being a Klitschko conqueror as of yet, although they certainly hope that he will become exactly that in the future.

Don't be surprised if Helenius takes a step back in competition if they can't get any big names in the ring with him.

I've noticed improvements in Helenius from fight to fight.

He finished off Peter more efficiently and Lyakhovich more aggressively than he did Brewster.

And he looked in better shape against Lyakhovich than he has in past fights. He's still a bit soft in the tummy, but he doesn't have the fat there that he had before (like in the *****ko fight).
