No one should blame Cotto for taking a knee. He had nothing left, going on would have been pointless.

Ortiz really set himself back quitting against Maidana. He is just now getting back to the position he might have had 2 years ago if he had persevered and beat Maidana. That was bad on his part, and no one will forget it until he gets in that same position and it goes differently.

I think Ortiz did. looked like he could have dug deep and kept on but I don't know, I din't experience it. It is what it is, but I also think he has made up for it and should not have it hanging over him anymore.
Cotto I think had all he could take and his corner should probably stopped it sooner and therefor not put him in that position.

Props to TS for a respectful thread. We need more of these when controversial stuff happens in boxing.

        Both fighters quit.

Both were given the chance to carry on and neither wanted to.

They were taking too much punishment and did not want to carry on so they quit.

They both quit. Thinking otherwise is just plain nuthuggery, in this case Cotto stans trying to justify him quitting.

Cotto denied us the KO boxing fans wanted to see.

Margarito could have done the same against Shane but didn't quit.

Cotto was absolutely done. He had nothing left. That was 11 brutal rounds.

Ortiz could have kept going, he just didn't have the will to do it at that point of his career.

Cotto fought until he knew there was no chance to win. And not to mention Tony might have been loaded. Ortiz just gave up right away.
