Did Cotto or Ortiz quit in their fights?

Wondering what you guys thought? I thought Cotto took a vicious beating, I mean he was also punishing Margarito but it was clear as day that he was really hurt late in the fight. Ortiz vs Maidana, It appeared Ortiz kind of quit. I felt he could have fought on longer, but then again I'm not in his body, I don't know what he is feeling.

This isn't a bash thread on either fighter, I just want to see what other fans of boxing think. I personally feel Ortiz wasn't fully out of gas. He did have a big bruise welt near his eye but we seen fighters like Wolak fight with worse in my opinion.

Cotto looked defeated at the end. Ortiz looked like he just gave up. That and the comment "I dont deserve to get this treatment" didnt help any

Yeah, that was an awful speech to give at the end of that fight. To be fair to Ortiz tho, his brain probably was rattled around still from the fight.

Cotto will quit under the right circumstances i have NO doubt! He is also one of my favourite fighters but lets be honest, Margarito took a deep look into his soul and saw that he could mow him down with sheer will power alone and did it.
Ortiz flat out quit. As of today he is masquerading as a game fighter, but its a mask and the real Ortiz will be back soon enough. Whilst Ortiz has his front on he is actually a dangerous kid, but it's all a front and not his real persona.

Agreed. Ortiz says he's game (and might even think he is) but when you give a interview like that after a fight you show your real colours. He'll fold again next time someone takes him into the trenches. Shame really, the kid has talent, just not the heart.

They both quit, but Cotto's is more understandable. After all there's justified controversy with Margarito now. Ortiz's was bad, but I think he just didn't know what the **** he was walking into. But his heart is better than then. The sixth round with Berto proved that. He was out on his feet for almost 2 minutes before he rallied, if that isn't heart, what is?

I think Ortiz was in shock. He felt the damage to his face and the fact that the crazy Maidiana was just still coming throwing bombs, he just wasn't mentally strong enough (at that time).

He was probably thinking he was taking the fight after the KO's in the 2nd round also. Going from on top to on your ass with a messed up face and a wild fighter just getting up after being layed out and willing to march straight forward again was too much (at that point) for his mental matter and there is also lack of experience in what he did once hurt which obviously didn't help him.

Cotto, geeze he was hurt bad, he was ****ed. We all reach the wall at some point. He was standing at the bottom of one very ****in big one! No blame.
