Comments Thread For: Meyer: Klitschko Terms Will Likely Crack Povetkin Bout

Last Saturday night in Germany, unbeaten Olympic gold medal winner Alexander Povetkin captured the WBA's "regular" heavyweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Ruslan Chagaev. The victory makes Povetkin the mandatory contender to the WBA's super champion, Wladimir Klitschko, who also has the WBO/IBO/IBF titles around his waist. Povetkin has been positioned to fight Klitschko in the past, twice, as the IBF's mandatory, and both times the fight fell through.

Povetkin chickened out because he was scared when Wlad offered him a career high payday and a contract with no further options twice.. Povetkin is an embarrassment now that shameless coward even acts like hes a champion while his next opponent will be 50 year Holyfield

Meyer is bull****ting. He looks for grandpa Holyfield as an opponent and not for one of the Klitschkos.Povetkin would never fight Wladimir, he already ran away twice after the Klitschkos won the purse bid.....

"Both times the fight fell though" No Sasha faked an injury and then out right ducked the fight the second time.

Povetkin not wanting to fight Volodymyr is one thing but using Sauerland & Atlas as mouthpieces to make excuses, lie, and attempt to slander them rather then owning up the fact that you're just too scared and know you would lose makes me lose respect for him.

Either K beats him but I still want to see one of them face him. 60-40 is all he deserves, period. At least Haye had the real WBA title.(somewhat)

What Sauerland means here is "we want to impose our Slave contracts on other fighters and don't want a part of anyone who has leverage" and if you read between the lines you can also tell that this Meyer guy is a Grade-A ****smoker.

People like to **** on the American Heavyweights but I don't remember Calvin Brock, Eddie Chambers, Kevin Johnson, Tony Thompson or Chris Arreola crying about slave contracts.

European fighters are soft, and they expect soft opposition to pad their records. They are afraid of anything that resembles risk.

Americans might not be the best fighters at Heavyweight but they have way more heart, balls and fighting spirit than the current crop of coddled European softies.

Take look at Helenius, Pulev, or Glazkov's resume. Or guys like Dzinziruk, Golovkin, Erdei who went through legal battles to get out of their contracts because their promoter wasn't getting them the best fights possible.

Wilder, Rodriguez? There are guys everywhere who are content padding their records alot of the time it's the promoters. In Povetkin's case he knows he would lose and doesn't want it.

What a gibbering load of crap from Sauerland. Wlad needs to squeeze the WBA and force them to make Povetkin his mando or else refuse to pay sanctioning fees. What's the point of owning the WBA belt if they're just gonna ignore you like that?
