Given that Mayweather is an active fighter, many current boxing fans may think highly of him in terms of all time. But in this article we take a look back at the true and undeniable "best defensive fighters in the history of the sport."

Read on to find out who tops him on the list.

I don't think Ali should be in a top 10 list, let alone 5.

          Benitez should take his place

He defended his straw weight title sucessfully 21 times! He also won a flyweight championship, and defended it twice b4 retiring. He always found a way to win and his defense was almost seamless. I could put him anywhere in the top 5 of your list :P

He is one of only like 3 boxers i think to have ever retired undefeated btw
Tell me what makes his defense better then Locche, Benitez, Pep, Toney, or Whitaker's, becuase too me it's clearly not on their level.

There's been a hell of a lot more then 3 boxers retire undefeated by the way.

Mayweather is top 4 all time. Benny Leonard, Willie Pep and Nicolino Locche and the ones in there with him.

Mayweather is the best defensive fighter in history imo.

                      Why?

Because hes a complete defensive fighter.

                      Uses his reflexes for defense.
                      Uses shoulder roll.
                      Uses the ear muff defense.
Hes very hard to hit thisclose to an opponent.
Hes very hard to hit on the ropes.

                      Prime Mayweather was unreal.
