So it would've been better if he had've fought him a few months earlier? He still would've been 38 and the #1 Welterweight in the world, just like he was at the point when Floyd fought him. And Mosley was preparing for a fight in January '10 anyway with Berto, but it got cancelled. Ain't like he was coming from a retirement or anything. He was still active and seeking out fights.

No, it would've been better if these 2 fighters had showed some long term consistency (like Mayweather has) which would've set up an inevitable "megafight" somewhere down the line. But both fighters eventually got exposed for what they really were.

Also "would have been better" and easier to make a fight with these 2 if Mayweather didn't have longstanding monetary disputes with their promoter.

Don't you think Mayweather's financial issues with Arum was a major roadblock as well? Or do you conviently overlook this fact because it doesn't fit with your confirmation bias?

Or consistency as in, quitting in a championship fight on HBO and having never headlined a PPV?

None. He is the same fighter that has losses like Margarito and the same fighter with no drawing power like Cotto.


With Floyds standards, there is no way to justify this fight when he avoided two guys for being who Ortiz is today.

A fight with Ortiz is far easier to make though because he has no monetary issues with Ortiz's promoter like he does with Cotto & Margarito's promoter.

BTW, Cotto's promoter Bob Arum never attempted to initiate negotiations with Mayweather for a fight with Cotto. Ever. He was content with Cotto fighting in the Top Rank Boxing League where he's able to pocket a percentage of both sides of the fighters purse.

If anybody's to blame for these fights not going down, it's Arum, Margarito & Cotto.
