without this punch, it would have been hard for him to continue to move up in weight as he did. sure he would have still had his legs, but legs and reflexes get u but so far, esp when u begin to lose them as u get bigger. so ive come to the conclusion that the guy owes his success to, as much as anything else, his lead right. thoughts?
you're not entirely wrong but i do believe that you've underestimated his climb.

his lead right is great. his left hook is great when he commits to it. his defense is unparalleled which allows him to have a below average punch output while still getting decisions due to his accuracy/ hand speed.

that said, the thing he owes his success to the most is his boxing brain. floyd mayweather jr. finds a way to impose his style on his opponent.

the first couple of rounds are a bit anxious, as a fan, but around the end of the fourth round things start becoming obvious.

mayweather has started catching them with clean counters, he's starting to stand right in front of them while doing so and they are starting to try and pick their punches which is severely dropping their work-rate.

just because ortiz defeated berto he is now a real challenge, come on...he required pacquiao for the test because they believe hes on peds and that floyd is embarking on a crusade to clean the sports of boxing yet when being called by the court for deposition he ducks. if they really believe that pacquiaos on peds they should welcome the court proceedings, where else can they best prove their allegation than in a court of law? its very clear that floyd dont want any of pacquiao as good and as astute as his advisor is he is only riding and encashing on the popularity of the one he claimed as a midget (when he is only an inch taller) he is only using pacquiao to make himself relevant, to sell his shows. hes not there to clean up the sports of boxing, hes there to clean up the the pockets of the gullibles and make it as a sport.

But I also feel that Floyd realized that he had to add some bulk to his frame and get stronger if he was going to face these bigger fighters.

He was giving up a lot of weight/strength to JLC.
This right here, he looked beastly at 140 and he's NOW looking similar to that, I'm talking physique. I doubt we'll ever see Mayweather get pushed around, the way Castillo did.

fantasy victory? it's called a prediction

name one person who predicted Cotto would beat Floyd, and I'll name one person who's got NO clue.

he's not suing because floyd tried to make him take some test. i guess you forgot how floyd and floyd's dad went on and on about manny being on roids after the cotto fight and before the negotiations to fight floyd even took place. they couldn't even use the flimsy he doesn't want to agree to our demands so he must be guilty excuse yet. they had no excuse. they were just making sh-it up. that's why he's suing.
