here is the dumbest thing about people saying boxing is dead/dying....

welter weights, ok welterwieghts(FMJ and pac) who are really blown up 130 pounders,,,,

can get 1.3 million buys PPV and all that attention....

there is obviously a demand for boxing.....

the only problem is boxing politics....

and considering how ****ed up boxing politics are....

it is still big....

also the thing about ethnic groups that dana said came of as kind of dumb...

this whole country is ethnic.

There will always be a demand for boxing. If not, it would have died much much earlier.

MMA is a fad and to me it has already peaked. They just spent a ton of money on the Fox deal and if that tanks (which it will), the sport will go back to being irrelevant.

if mma hasnt peaked it will....

i used to think it was the best untill i staerted watching and studying th classics and then i relly started to see the difference...

boxing just needs a good promoter to do some of the same things dana has done from a buisness stand point but it will never die....

for casual fans and hardcore fans allike and just sports fans in general...

there will neve be anything that can compare to the glamour andexcitement of an all time cham vs champ suprfight....

stop ducking may and take the test pac....

just come out and say it, UFC fans are 99% screaming middle class white kids age 12-20

I live in Northwest Chicago in a white middle class area and just turned 22 and I honestly do not know anyone who is a big ufc fan and know very few casual ufc fans really. I know a few sports bars that show all their events though but whereas I only see Mayweather/Pacquiao/Cotto fights shown in Bars/Restaurants. Through my own perspective ufc/mma is not even in the top 6 of sports followed by my friends.

My parents are from Ireland and my dad's whole side of the family is very big into Boxing. Boxing is pretty big in the Irish community although we dont really have any good pro fighters there are a lot of amateur fighters. Andy Lee is probably the best fighter we have today I met him a couple times and hope he pulls out the w against Vera. Matthew Macklin aint bad either. McCloskey aint good but Jamie Kavanagh looks like he has a pretty bright future. Ireland is real small though less than 4 million.

put paul williams in there with bj penn( one of the best boxers at 155) and paul would smoke him....

also the lower level guys in boxing are watch able...

but when i go to hdnet and watch Titan fc or whatever. they cant box for ****....

i give them credit were it is due, they are great wrestlers and graplers/jiujitsu fighters...

but the level of skill that they have when on there feat doesnt compare to ametuers....

maybe with the execpyion of anderson silva who is suck a crazy athelete he could do whatever he wants.

Theres a lot Mauy Thai and Kickboxers who transition to MMA like Anderson Silva.........Watching Mixed Stances and punches that setup kicks look bad to a Boxing purists....

boxing still grabs a piece of headlines here in the main papers... ufc/mma are usually in those novelty papers with amatuer journos. that being said, if boxing was dying.. kltchko/haye wouldve bombed.. well the fight did, but 40k+ people in a outdoor stadium is epic in any combat sport
