      Vitali is a "real" champion?

Is that for winning a vacated title agaisnt a 38 year old Corrie Sanders and defending it once in the 16 months afterwards?

      Please.

Vitali is one of four title holders.

He's not even close to being "The" Champion.

Vitali Klitscho is the REAL heavyweight champion of the World whether you like it or not.

He was the GREAT Lennox Lewis's last fight, and the batton was handed down to the winner of Vitali vs Sanders.

Brewster/Ruiz/Byrd... They all know that if they want to be recognised as the true champ, they're gonna have to face him sooner or later.

If you do a poll on this, or any other boxing website as to who is the genuine heavyweight champion of the World, you will find yourself in the vast minority.

          Wrong.

Vitali Klitschko LOST to Lennox Lewis, and then won one fourth of the vacated title, and won it agaisnt a 38 year old Fringe contender. Since then, he's defended it once agaisnt Danny Williams.

That doesn't make him "The" Champion.

He's one of four title holders who all need to unify before the linage is restored.

All the polls and popular opinion doesn't change the fact all Vitali has done is won one of the four titles in a very weak fight.

          That's flawed and poor logic.

Nothing you can say changes the fact that the titles have been splintered and need to be unified.

Vitali is very unaccomplished before winning his title, and has been very inactive and fought weak opposition since.

He's one of four title holders in a wide open and meidocre Heavyweight division.

I'd have to agree, there is no "true" world heavyweight champion at the moment. As much as I'm a fan of Vitali, he hasn't done anything to prove himself as a champion and his last fight with Danny Williams was ridicolous. You can't blame his inactivity, an injury is an injury. If he beats Rahman he better start thinking of ways to fight Byrd, Ruiz and Brewster or whoever holds the other titles if he wants to really be considered as a great in boxing history. Holding one belt and defending it against nobody's is not a good step. Lennox fought everybody, Vitali so far has not.

Why don't you start a petition and send it to the Ring magazine...

Because, as many of the boxing sites, they sure rate Vitali as the champion

The Ring Magazine showed poor judgment in sanctioning Vitali Klitschko vs Corrie Sanders for their belt.

Regardless, the point he was making was that Jones Jr's win over Ruiz isn't meaningful because Ruiz had a paper title (that he won in an eliminator vs Holyfield.

If Toney beat Vitali, he'd be beating a guy who won a vacent title agasinst a fringe contender in Corrie Sanders.

Vitali has one of four titles in a splintered and weak point in the division's history.

If beating Corrie Sanders and then defending once agaisnt Danny Williams is what solidifies "The" Heavyweight champion, that's a JOKE.

No one is "The" Heavyweight Champion until titles are unified. Period.

You are forgetting the fact all of the champs are currently Don Kings fighters! Therefore it is almost impossible for Vitali to fight the "Other" champs! It isn't all Vitali's fault, and I don't blame him for not selling his soul to be THE champ.

Do you know how Lennox Lewis unifed titles?

He signed on Don King to CO-promote him.

Do you know what the result was?

Unifying titles, and a hundred million dollars.

You nut huggers just want to play the "Big bad Don King" card, and that's fine.

Vitali will never be "The" Champion if he doens't unify titles.

Signing on Don King as a co promoter would only be a positive thing.

If he doesn't, he can stick to fighting once a year agasint the "Oleg Maskievs" of the world while proclaiming he makes the title, not the other way around.

He's 34, and if he doesn't unify and sign the big fights, he'll soon find himslef retired with Hassim Rahman and Larry Donald as his biggest career wins.

I'm too tired to get involved... But I can see what these boys are talking about in Bozo_no_no just wanting to slate the Klitscho brothers in every thread.

This thread is supposed to be about James Toney.

And I've given up with the "Byrd-Klitschko II: Wlad win not a formality?" thread.
