This has been an awesome project and I'm very happy to hear they are thinking about doing another one.
Only thing that sucks is the selection of the new weight class is limited to fighters who appear on Showtime and not hbo.
Howabout doing one at lightweight, now that JMM is moving up and probably not coming all the way back down.
- Brandon Rios (USA)
- Miguel Vasquez (Mexico)
- Kevin Mitchell (UK)
- Michael Katsidis (Australia)
- Jorge Linares (Venezuela) vs Antonio DeMarco (USA) winner
and....either John Molina (USA), Hank Lundy (USA) or Sharif Bogere (Uganda/USA)
Sounds good, only problem is that some of those fighters you mentioned are already having trouble making 135 (atleast Rios is). Also, DeMarco is from Sinaloa, not the US.
No denying that the Super Six has led to great matchups which otherwise probably never happen. Still, almost every fight has had a controversy of some kind. It's unavoidable with a concept this large in scale.
I like how the 118 tourney went. Or maybe they could have everyone fight each other without any rounds, and whoever has the most points meet in the finals.
I've come to the conclusion a long time ago that supposed "true" boxing fans (people who post on BS apparently) don't really know wtf they want. Awhile ago, a ton of true boxing fans were complaining that the tournament is taking too long and that it was a tremendous failure, suggesting that all future tournaments should be single elimination when all it did was provide them with two years of top supermiddleweights fighting each other non stop in a sport notorious for ducking and posturing.
