Why didn't you chime in on that? I would have loved (and still would) to get your perspective on that.

Although matched shadily against outclassed fighters, Manny deserves to keep a good portion of his earnings simply because he didn't try coasting in his fights and put on really good performances.

Can't really blame Arum since he spotted and took advantage of an opportunity, and Manny needed the promotion and the money, and he could've done worse than being with Murad.

That is why it is imperative that fighters understand the business side of boxing and keep a close eye on their finances to make up for a lack of trust worthy management.

Boxing needs some good honest accountants and financial advisers. Over the years I've read countless stories about fighters mismanaging their $$$ by overspending or dealing with unscrupulous 'hangers on.' Also, it's kind of surprising that a super star like Manny Pacquiao is letting himself get bilked by all these crooked people...

Manny's got to smarten up; his prime is not gonna last forever so the big paydays will eventually come to an end. He needs to safe guard the money he earns now so that it will be there for him when he's retired...

You remember a month ago we had the discussion that VisionQwest wasn't the right company.

Do you feel that Arum could have pulled this power move with PwC's high-net worth group?

That's what I was talking about.

If you look at the details of the two million dollar rematch contract, Manny only received $313,446 , there were also deferred amounts in the form of loans from people like Shelley Finkel, Nick Khan, Keith Davidson , and even Freddie Roach deferred $40,000 of his $200,000 due him for the bout. When you start breaking down things like a $200,000 advance from Top Rank and $80,350 in fight tickets Pacquiao requested, $75,000 for an assistant trainer, and $50,000 for a translator and camp aide it is little wonder that the money was disappearing then and may be disappearing again today.

$50K for a translator... FIFTY GRAND. . For a few weeks.

Do you know how many Tagalog -speaking people on the West Coast would be Manny's translator for a hotel room and a couple of ticket to the fight?

Al Haymon is the man. My understanding is that he only takes btw 5-7% for his role, and actually less than 5% if you are earning alot. I believe Mayweather pays him less than 5%. That's a good deal for a guy who can get you favorable HBO dates and a pile of green to fight tomato cans (see Berto).

Also he doesn't look to rip you off, and as Floyd has alluded to he is happy to help with buisiness ventures outside of boxing and offer all sorts of advice, finanical or otherwise.

Manny would be far better off if he just dumped TR at the first opportunity avaialbe that would not cost him too much financially, and did fight by fight deals with GBP like Mayweather does. He would get much much more of the pie in that scenario, as MP Promotions could also take a slice as well as the man himself.
