Nobody will be giving a **** in all honesty. Chances are the brits would come out, maybe some floridians, the crowd probably wont be trippin. Being from Florida and fighting in LA isnt gonna help you at all...
Unless your Roy Jones.Comment

Anyone can call out anyone, but until he actively gets to america and actually FIGHTS SOMEONE HERE then there is no use even elaborating on any intrests at all.
The question asks whether Tarver would fight Calzaghe, if Calzaghe came to fight in the US. Tarver dodges the question and instead dismisses Calzaghe entirely, despite the question presuming that Joe actually actively sought a fight in America. Therefore Tarver did not actually answer the questionComment

The answer is no,neither has Taylor,Mayweather,Jones jr,De la hoya along with many other top american fighters.Back on to the topicOriginally posted by Martin (Top Knowledge)I think it's a little hypocritical of Tarver to harp on about Calzaghe never leaving the UK when in fact he has, and it is Tarver that has never left the States.
i can't see this fight taking place but if it does Tarver would come out on top.Comment

Just to disprove the widely-held notion that "all Brits think the same" I'm actually with Tarver on this.
Who's Tarver's second most famous opponent? Glen "I'm not sayin' I'm de best, I'm just a mon who'd willin' to fight de best" Johnson.
The same Glen Johnson who trained for Calzaghe only for Calzaghe to pull out with back injuries. Calzaghe's a good fighter, maybe he could have been a great, but the sad fact is his career's been littered with missed opportunities, never-weres and injuries. Tarver's time is limited and to wait around for a guy who hasn't lived up to any potential when he might get injured anyway isn't something he should realistically be expected to do.
Calzaghe had his career-defining/making bout on a plate with Lacy. But - whether his fault or not - he blew that. He can't expect to receive charity just on potential alone.Comment

but its differnt, there are TONS of big fights in the states, and i dont think there are biased judges, or at least not as bad as they are in britan, right now, the states is the capital of the boxing world, britan cannot say the sameOriginally posted by Martin (Top Knowledge)I think it's a little hypocritical of Tarver to harp on about Calzaghe never leaving the UK when in fact he has, and it is Tarver that has never left the States.Comment

HOLYFIELD vs LEWIS 1. Everywhere has some poor officiating, and the US is no exception
Don't be so ****ing naive about the standards of American boxing officials.
No offence intended.Comment

Very true. However Calzaghe does complain too much. He was gonn fight Johnston, fight fell through, gonna fight lacy, fight fell through, hell even the fight with Frank or Thomas Tate ( can`t remember which ) fell through. The one think common with all these failed fights is Calzaghe.Originally posted by BeowulfHOLYFIELD vs LEWIS 1. Everywhere has some poor officiating, and the US is no exception

Robin reid went to the states and fought Lacy, so its not a British thing, its a Calzaghe thing. Joe wants the attention and money of a superstar while only fighting in the UK against opponents whom may have a name ( Omar Sheika, Bryron Mitchell ) but i clearly past their best at the time of the fight!Comment

I'll give you UK guys an example of how fighting in America is different from anywhere else.
I was at the Corrales-Castillo fight in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Corrales is an American from Sacramento, California. It's about an hour or so flight from Vegas, not far at all.
Castillo is a Mexican who can't speak a word of English.
The crowd was about 90% on Castillo's side, Corrales was booed unmercifully as he made his way to the ring.
An American crowd booing their own fighter against a foreigner, it happens more often than you think.
Something like this would never happen in the UK or anywhere else in Europe.
Tarver's beaten Roy Jones and Glen Johnson, the two biggest names in his weight class, who has Calzaghe beaten of note?Last edited by Kenny Blankenship; 10-14-2005, 07:12 PM.Comment

Well he has cleaned up the Brit scene with wins over Woodhall, Reid, Eubank and the Mitchell and Shieka fights. I don`t like Calzaghe because of his big mouth, little action but i have to say he is the only opponent at super middle for Lacy. Calzaghe`s refusal to fight the top guys time and again means only one thing: COWARD!Originally posted by Kenny BlankenshipI'll give you UK guys an example of how fighting in America is different from anywhere else.
