Because in order to get into that ring you have have a mentality that nobody else has, one that you arent afriad to sacrafice yourself and your body to get where you want to get. Most people who dont have **** to begin with dont care what it takes to make it where they want to make it. You have seen enough on the streets that organized fighting is a far cry than the options that could be taken instead. Most people who have this all or nothing mentality tend to be from the hood.

I don't know, I think well-off kids can also have tremendous heart and sacrifice.

Boxing is a sport sport of poor, it is also an unique sport because anybody with a right mindset can box(I am not talking about turning pro and become a champion). You can be skinny and shirt or fat or tall or whatever and there is always a place for you in the sport. Just as long as you want it.

You also need to have talent though.

I grew up in an upper middle class family, I got into boxing by myself, just because I loved fighting, used to fight every week of my life until I turned 15(realized that I can really hurt people at that age and backed off).

It's mainly a parental thing. Most parents dont want their kids to get hurt, and most of the people in ******s etc just see it as a way too make it, to stay of the streets so they allow it more...

I don't know. I'm from a middle class family and I joined boxing because of many reasons...it's a respected sport (everybody respects guys who put their lives on the line every fight), you don't have to depend on teammates, it's the sweet science and i'm always eager to be the best.

I agree with the explantition that people in ****** aint scared to fight while a suburban person has many things to value and is able to think more instead of worry about getting shot or look for food.

Basically fighting is a way out those poor kids are fighting for a goal a nice home and a decent area! and basically people in the burbs already have that life so their goals are much different.

I mean hearing gun shots and gettng shot at is scary imagine having to deal with that everyday since you were a young boy? look at Ricardo Mayorga he grew up in a barrio so impovershed and corrupt to him fighting is a walk in the park because he has been through worse like getting shot at, stabbed, jumped, regularly.

Another one is Manny Pacquaio the guy came from the gutter! and he walks to the ring smiling he is a anamoly he smiles because to him boxing is like a game! he has been living in a ****** ********* area all his life and had to beg for rice, boxing is simple to him.

FROM MY EXPERIENCE most top boxers DO NOT come from tough ******s etc. That is hard for some to believe but it is true. Roy Jones -for example- came up on a farm ona quiet street , believe it or not.

Dont forget football and basketball man. Anyway as for the question at hand it is way too obvious to even bother answering it. Besides that others here have already posted the answer or answers.
