Hearns, Benitez and Leonard's 33-1-24 record at welterweight would say otherwise.

      floyd isn't a pure boxer

a pure boxer is someone who always comes in behind their jab- their first and (usually) strongest weapon is their jab.
a pure boxer is a master of distance- he knows where the other guy is and where he can hit him from. hearns and paul williams are obvious examples of pure boxers.
the pure boxer is usually unbeatable unless a swarmer gets under his skin and forces him out of his styles- the most obvious example beinh haggler hearns-
pure boxers usually have great defense- and excellent evading skills

In the history of boxing when a boxer puncher faces a pure boxer of similar ability nearly all times the boxer puncher comes out on top.

As they have they have the skill to catch with the pure boxer and do some damage.
Floyd regards himself as "a boxer/puncher" . Since his early days too.
Manny is a slugger, a boxer puncher he isnt.

very few fighters fit into 1 specific category completley

roy jones was an agressive turtle but he also had every other quality, including 1 punch knockout power in both hands

You just described Mayweather to a tee, and Paul Williams a pure boxer? Hes a volume puncher who can box against slower opponents (Ie Margarito). No where near a pure boxer.

Floyd does use a jab just usually uses it to the body..he also measures opponents distance the entire fight..and the unbeatable and great defense and skills well I shouldnt havr to say anything..

Paul williams and thomas hearns are boxer punchers.

                    i don't agree with that.

i'm trying to remember boxer-puncher vs. boxer matchups i've seen.

i think , unless the boxer has a weak chin , the pure boxer usually comes out on top.

pure boxers are generally better skilled and more technical than boxer punchers.

boxer punchers end up trying to box with the pure boxers and fighting their gameplan and to the pure boxers advantages.

I think this is all just a silly use of names and labels.
