    Boxer-Puncher beats a Pure Boxer

Floyd Mayweather style developed into pure boxer and Manny Pacquiao is widely regarded as a boxer-puncher.

But when these two styles collide with it the boxer puncher that comes out on top.

In the history of boxing when a boxer puncher faces a pure boxer of similar ability nearly all times the boxer puncher comes out on top.

As they have they have the skill to catch with the pure boxer and do some damage.

while I'd usually agree, i think this fight is way too even compare it with other matches in the same vein.

I believe that, when they meet, Manny will beat Floyd. I generally think in terms of their particular traits when making this determination. I tend not to think in terms of what you pointed out, but I understand it intuitively. You're right to point out this truism in specific terms. Now that you've made me look at it more clearly, I feel just that much more confident in my prediction.

What the hell is a pure boxer? Is that someone who never KO's anyone, someone like Pauli Malignaggi? If you actually did some research on Boxrec dot com before you posted this lame ass thread, you would see that Mayweather's KO percentage is within a few points of Pacquaio's, so I don't know what the hell you are talking about when you say he is a pure boxer while Pac is a boxer-puncher!

Floyd being a pure boxer will have an easy time against Ortiz a slugger IMO and is probably level bellow.

Floyd struggled with Castillo a swarmer, who pure boxers strugle with that style too.

Margarito a great swarmer would have cause Floyd a lot of problem.

Boxing: It's a Styles Thing. Why different styles are important in determining the outcome of individual match ups in the sport of boxing.

A great article from Monte Cox

              agree...

floyd is a boxing genius..but he showed he could also engage as in the mosley fight.

however, floyd needs to reckon with pac's powerful volume punches, southpaw stance and speed..

the above will likely play out with floyd being on the defense mode most of the time..
              where he is good at....

so it will still be a toss up between the offensive machine pac is and the technician in floyd

Floyd boxes, he doesn't go for KOs, he uses his defensive skills and movement.

Pacquiao is boxer-puncher, he has the skills but is more offensive he has the big power but is not as defensive as the pure boxer.

                    Styles makes fights.

Thats why fighter A beat fighter B and fighter B beats fighter C and fighter C beats fighter A.
