I say jlc-chico 3 will settle the issue once and for all. Mothpiece spitting in the first fight, extra 3.5 lbs in the rematch...i wonder what will it be in the third fight.
extra weigh-ins involved in corrales/castillo III

I see what you're saying VB, but someone has to look out for the fighter. These guys have all kinds of people in their ear telling them what weight to fight at. yeah, the fighter is responsible ultimately, but some responsibility has to go to the boxing officials as well.
A lot of these guys would drain themselves and not realize the risk involved. You know managers and promoters could get "experts" to deceive them into saying not only is it not dangerous to drain themselves, but actually more healthy. And I guarantee they'd do it. You think Thailand has a lot of fatalities and serious injuries? Same day weigh-ins could be potentially like the boxing plague.Comment

hello master, say listened to merchant on pedro's show last sunday.they was talking about the weigh-in fiasco. according to merchant it use to be believed that being dehydrated would effect the cushioning effect the membrane around the brain has.now they know thats a falicy.although everyone knows that being deydrated effect every other aspect of a person.some more than others.Originally posted by masterdirectorSame day weigh ins is idiotic. If fighters didn't drain themselves to make weight, it would work, but many fight well below their natural walk around weight, so it wouldn't work.
obviously you're not into boxer safety. or maybe you just didn't realize how dangerous it is for fighters to weigh in on the day of the fight. If they stay dehydrated that close to the fight, it doesn't give the body enough time for the membrane around the brain to replenish.
same day weigh-ins are no good. boxers should simply fight at their appropriate weights.
man, don't you think for instance corrales/castillo doing it slowly like 30 days before not more than 10%= 148.5lbs. then 7 days before fight 5% over division weight of 135= 141.75lbs.
then 30to24hrs official weigh-in at 135lbs.wouldn't that keep boxers camp in line.
my suggestion...and then before they walk out to the ring they weigh-in again and must weigh less than the next division up. in this case less than 140.that would allow them to gain 4 1/2lbs in 24hrs. doesnt that sound more safe and fair than whats happening now? if i recall right in the winky/trinidad they had a same day weigh-in.
please point out weaknesses in my suggestion and what the wbc are asking of the fighters.
i'm going to make a similar post of above in my thread.i'm trying to rack up more points somehow.if i recall you answered my post a while back explaining about the banking system on this
site. i lollygagged for months not banking and lost out on points.only have 3mil.can't bet like i would like. don't know how some posters have built up billions of points.they must get millions donated or they dont have a job and can make thousands of ridicules posts answering themselves.
anyway keep up the good posts.Comment

steelhead, yeah I just don't agree with same day weigh-ins at all.
can't say I'm for the 30 day weigh in, although fine if they want it then do it. When you get that many issues with weigh ins, 30 day weigh in, 7 day way in, day before the fight weigh in, day of the fight weigh in, you've got the fighters and the fans focused in so much on weigh ins that it just takes away from the match.
I think they need to keep it just one official weigh in on the day before the fight. If one fighter weighs over, he should be punished. Maybe they need to start putting weigh in specifics in the contracts, like if either fighter weighs in up to 3-5 pounds over the weight limit, he has to garnish half his purse to his opponent. If he's above that, the fight is cancelled/postponed and the cost of the postponement comes out of that fighter's and that promoters' pocket.
I just cannot see how same day weigh ins will ever be safe. And I'm actually okay with a fighter weighing a pound or two over the contracted weight, that happens. Body weight fluxuates some. The fighters should just allow for that in training and work to weigh 133 lbs instead of 135 lbs, that way if their body weight fluxes up, it hopefully won't be more than just a couple pounds.Comment
