extra weigh-ins involved in corrales/castillo III

the wbc is asking corrales and castillo to agree to extra weigh-in conditions in their rubbermatch.

30 days before fight both fighters must weigh-in no more than 148.5lbs.

7 days before fight both fighters must weigh-in no more than
    141.75lbs.

at official weigh-in 30-24 hours before fight no more than 135lbs.

sounds too intelligent to be coming from wbc.how inovative.

wish they would of added a fight night weigh-in condition where both fighters had to weigh less than the next weight class up which is 140lbs. maybe a rule like that will make boxers start fighting at closer to their natural weight.

Highly doubtful that this rule could be enacted, boxing rules should apply to all boxers across the board and obviously this rule does not apply to Heavyweights.

Personally, I wish they would go back to fight day weigh-ins. It's ridiculous when you have 2 lighweights fighting at Jr Middleweight.

Since they are never going to do that, they should have some limit on how much weight a fighter can put on by the day of the fight.

Same day weigh ins is idiotic. If fighters didn't drain themselves to make weight, it would work, but many fight well below their natural walk around weight, so it wouldn't work.

obviously you're not into boxer safety. or maybe you just didn't realize how dangerous it is for fighters to weigh in on the day of the fight. If they stay dehydrated that close to the fight, it doesn't give the body enough time for the membrane around the brain to replenish.

same day weigh-ins are no good. boxers should simply fight at their appropriate weights.

Corrales outweighed Castillo by two pounds at fight time.

Castillo had to make 147 the day of the fight. Corrales did not.

I'm pretty sure that's what he was getting at. By making same-day weigh ins, a fighter will have to fight at their natural weight classes, since forcing somebody to fight at their "natural" weight isn't easily definable or enforcable.

Fight day weigh ins would give the boxer a choice. Drain impossibly low and risk serious injury or fight closer to their real weight. If the fighter suffers serious injury, it's on them. It's not up to me to decide how they should fight safely, it's up to them. If they choose to drain themselves for possible riches and glory and wind up ****ed up for life, it's a decision they made. The responsibility is NOT on the fan.
