Then Roy Jones came along and captivated me with "how much better" he was than his opponents. While Roy was amazing as far as athleticism in the ring, I'm glad I had my aunt who loves boxing more than me. We'd sit up and watch every fight imaginable. She'd stop the cassette and tell me what to watch for. How Julian Jackson used to set up his power punches?; How Sweet Pea used distance and balance on defense?; How Tito was a devastating puncher but limited in skill set and was subseptible to being jabbed and turned?; How Frankie Randall's dedication to his jab was key against Chavez?.....the list goes on and on.

Then along came Floyd. He embodied every thing I came to know and love about the sport (in the ring). Before anybody throws jokes my way, I'm simply a fan of the man's skill set. His name could be Joe Blow...as long as he possesses those skill sets, I'd be a fan.
Now your aunt was a REAL fan of boxing. A female breaking down fights like that is unusual or not very common unless she's Ann Wolfe.

          i like a skilled slugfest....

or a fast paced chess match (Leonard duran 1, barrera morales 123, robinson-lamotta, ali-frazier ect.)

i like when the most skilled guys put it all on the line...

thats why i want pac-may cause they are the only peopel that can make the other fight and the winner will really shine.

duran an hagler are my fav fighters cause they could brawl and punch but they had great skills also....

duran had some of the best defens ive ever seen.

boxer vs puncher/swarmer is always the best imo....

I think it's because boxing, and combat sports in general, are very primitive in a way. It's two guys standing in front of each other and fighting it out to prove who is the better man. Other sports like football, for example, don't have the same dangerous nature as boxing, when you watch a fight, you know what these guys could be seriously injured if they mess up. I'm not saying we want to see anyone get messed up badly, but the chance of it adds an allure to the sport - if you know what I mean.

I love the sport because of the respect shown by most...the dedication it takes...

The skill involved...the athleticism....also the heart and courage....

Its just action packed...with emotion at the same time....

              Gets me pumped up

Yeah man....she loves Boxing! Even now when I'm out in the club on a Friday night I'll get a random text about if I just "saw that knockout". I sometimes go along and give a generic yeah cause I don't want to taint one of our strongest bonds which is watching boxing. So I make sure to DVR Friday Night Fights just in case she sees something text worthy and I can watch it when I get home.

I like boxing because I cant get into team sports and enjoy sports and contests that are 1 on 1. Level playing field, battle of who is the best prepared and can execute a game plan.

When a L comes theres one person a true fighter will look to, the same person they look to when they get the W. The only man responsible for the outcome.

                    Its a beautiful thing.

                    Team sports are whack. IMO...

Because my pop was a fighter (a very good one at that) and he had me in the gym with him when I was about 2 years old. I've LOVED it since then. Still remember how hot the gym was and the smell of it.
