Putting Margarito in the same sentence as Mayweather is a crime. They are both on 2 different levels. One having the potential to be the best p4p fighters of this era, and the other being a big, promising welterweight who hasn't beat anyone world-class, and genuinely won't be a top notch fighter.

Margarito has only one edge on Mayweather and thats power. We all know Floyd can take a punch, and hell he has the best defense in the game. Why on earth would ANYONE pick Margarito to beat Mayweather. That's just nonsense.

Only the mexican's think Margarito can beat Mayweather. What you guys have to realize is heart won't always win you fights. You have to have some genuine skill to beat Mayweather.

Margarito just ducked Joshua Clottey in his upcoming defence of his WBO title. He's fighting a guy that's not only ranked lower than Clottey, but who was KO'ed by Shane Mosely at lightweight.

I like margarito, but people are crazy if they think that margarito can beat floyd. Margarito gets hit way too much to step into the ring with Mayweather. Margarito is very good, but Mayweather is elite. In my opioin anybody that is hittable, will not last the night with Mayweather...

I don't like that clottey muthafu**a, he holds and hits to much, and is very rough and dirty, I wouldn't blame margarito for not taking a fight with that clown, although I believe margarito would destroy clottey...

The total purse was?If he is making more to fight someone else why would he take it Margarito is good but it is not what PBF needs and if the purse was light and he is making more to fight Mitchell who cares about the split...Margarito will lose anyway.PBF will technically dismantle Margarito IMO...he is not much more than a Mexican Hatton.

actually he has size, strength, and power, and reach on Mayweather. And i totally agree that you have to have some genuine skill, Margarito has some, granted and ill be the first... his genuine skill isnt as great as mayweather, probably nowhere near as close. But he has just enough that many believe he can give Mayweather problems.

And its not just the "Mexicans" that think Margarito has a chance, in fact many non Mexican analysts believe Margarito has a chance. Floyd knows Margarito has a chance and thats why he hasnt faced him he knows its a tough fight. You know Floyd is knocking on 147lb divisions doors, he wants in, and if it was as easy as you say to beat Margarito with some boxing skills he would have done it already and so would have Judah, and so would have spinks. Instead they chose to hype up some other Mexicans who posed no threat to establish some "credibility".

Dont get me wrong I think Floyd should stay at 140 he isnt a 147lber, and if he stays at 140 and starts facing some tough, real tough opposition to stake his claim in that division then its all good, he is working and showing why he is #1. But he hasnt and now he says he wants 147 when he hasnt really done anything at 140.

Clottey would stop Margarito in a good scrap. Clottey has faster hands, great power & a left hook to the body that would drop him. That's why he didn't take the fight with him.

                    Good analysis.

I think people give Margarito a chance because he's a non-stop pressurer. Thats why we hear talk of Margarito Floyd. But truth be told, he's not on the same level as Castillo. So I dont see him giving Mayweather problems at all.

I am honestly not suprised. Mayweather isn't actually the bravest man when it comes to picking opponets.
