We went over this before there are different kinds of intelligence, there is the kind that studies and then there is quick thinking knowing when to do the right thing at the right time, both are forms of intelligence.

Really, are you the one I was having a exchange with about this?

    I disagree.

    • The general consensus is that all "Boxers" are smart in the ring. And that coming forward aggressively as a style is looked upon as less intelligent. I disagree.

But because this is the established premise, you can't argue around it effectively.

We have talked about it in the past when you said you didn't think Floyd was ring smart.

There are two kinds of generals one sits back and thinks big picture strategy while other generals actually lead the fighting. Both take intelligence but just because you can do one doesn't mean you can do the other, Floyd is clearly the latter a battlefield quick thinker.

To me that is ring IQ

IQ = Doing what the guy in my avatar does. And that's watch tapes, cover the basics.
It's not reflexes (or not solely).

If you listen to what TRAINERS and past opponents say about Floyd, they talk about the adjustments that he makes. In fact, Naazim Richardson described it as "there will be a window, but then that window will close".

Floyd makes adjustments in his body positioning, stance, angle and punch selection, etc.

Those are not reflexive. Those are strategic/tactical.

It depends on what the fighter is good at and are they always taking the best path to victory.

You can fight any style and be smart for doing it in the correct situation, if that is in the guys bag.

If you think about it, you're doing exactly like your idol, letting others fight a threat instead of doing it himself.
You and Gino obviously do not have an inkling on what the parameters are that will accurately define what 'ring intelligence' really mean.
Resorting to 'if you don't know, then I won't tell you' doesn't cut it. That's an infantile response that only shows that you guys do not know what you are talking about.

This one is also addressed to punchesnbunches and Gino.

I didn't say it was all about reflexes. Did you catch the Conan the Barbarian part?

It's a combination of reflexes and that.
