What do you think of this guy?

I think he had awesome potential and he could of been a great fighter, but he lost his hunger, and determination once he lost to Chavez the 1st time.

was excellent until the 1st chavez fight.

speedy like a mother****er and had skill up the wazoo, but after the 1st fight with chavez, he lost it all.

He didn't lose his hunger and determination.

He had the fight LITERALLY beaten out of him. He sustained one of the worst overall beating I've ever seen. He lost confidence, and suffered a lot like DC Curry did after his loss to Honeyghan.

To tell you the truth I don't know much about him except he had trouble with the law and such.

I remember seeing the Chavez fight and he totally dominated. If would of KO'd Chavez or even beat him imo i think he would be in the HOF right now. That lost hurt him...

        5 seconds left...

One of the most talented fighters of the past 30 years. He had so much heart and pride, which is why he lost that fight.

If only he would've listened and jabbed and stayed away.....

Gringo is right he had his prime beaten out of him!

Some guys can take a beating after beating and actually become better fighters, Taylor took one horrible beating and was shot from there on after.

Plus...he kept climbing in weight, his fight with Terry Norris was just not fair...Chavez would never fight Norris because of the size difference (Norris tried to get JCC in the ring) but poor old Melderick decided to fight Terry and got smacked around real good.

Norris vs. Melderick makes me sad...it was a water psitol vs. a super soaker.

Bah! No more Duva comparisons or I'll make fun of the French.

Meldrick had too much pride for himself. He wanted the knockout. He was a fighter who would rather gain the respect of everyone by KO'ing a guy, then by winning an easy UD.

I respect him for that, but I wish he would of beat Chavez...the most overated fighter of ALL time.
