How will Mexicans take to Donaire

Just like N*SYNC were really all friends before they became a band...It is just fanservice in an attempt to endear Donaire more to the Philippines...maybe it is true, I just doubt it. It seems like they will believe anything Pacquiao or his people will say over there, so if they make up cute heartwarming stories about Donaire it can only help with building him a larger following. -
It's almost like you asked one question, just to talk about something else? Gino, that you?As it looks like right now 2 of the top 3 P4P in the world are Filipino. When Pacquiao was coming up he was beating alot of Mexicans at the lower weight classes however it seemed like Mexicans warmed up to him and he developed a Mexican fanbase because of his style.
Donaire looks poised to go through the same path. His style however is different, it's more of a pure slick boxer style and not the brawling type of style that Mexican fans generally favor. Do you think he will get the same love from Mexican fans fighting the way he fights? Because honestly right now he doesn't seem to get the same type of love from some of the Filipino fans I know. They say he's not exciting doesn't have power like Pacquiao. I'm thinking in my head do these people actually know boxing? They seem to think that if a person doesn't throw 300 punches a round he's not exciting.
Are we really starting these threads again? an ALT telling us Filipinos don't like Donaire because he's slick, is there an agenda to these posts?Comment

I cant speak for all Mexicans but in my family, we love to watch Donaire. He is an amazing boxer. He has power, speed, footwork, ring IQ and is a nice guy who seems humble and respectful.
Plus no to mention that they guy has been KO'ing everyone hes been fighting endears him to Mexicans because we love to see a good scrap or someone getting laid out.
Just because hes beaten some good Mexican fighters doesnt mean we wont like him. Sure, I was rooting for Montiel because I ride with my people Just as much as the next person but when Donaire starched him, I was like "damn, this kid is good" and Ive always enjoyed watching Donaire even before the Montiel KO. Like everyone else, I fell in love with his skill set after watching him destroy Vic Darchynian.Comment

You're right, there probably is some truth to it...just slight exaggeration.Originally posted by SoggyLungswell it doesn't seem to far-fetched of a story. donaire did grow up in the same area as pacquiao and buboy. plus donaire himself confirms that the story is true...so i don't know what else to say. if you'd rather think it's all one big conspiracy then go right ahead.Comment

I was in Mexico for the Nonito-Kochulito fight and everyone I watched the fight with knew of Nonito's skills and speed. They were rooting for Montiel but knew he had a difficult fight in front of him.
I think Mexican fans are beyond just rooting for brawlers. They have been boxing fans for a long time and can appreciate different styles. The only thing they can't stand are guys who hold on the inside and prevent the fight from having any action. Theyre not big on PBF because he's had some terribly boring fights in the past few years but hee could win them over if he keeps fighting the way he did against Mosley.
Mexicans actually aren't as blindly biased as some of us make us out to be.Comment
