Gatti is probably my favorite fighter simply because he's fun to watch, but I just don't think he has the power he gets credit for. He never really put out someone who was recognized as having a good chin. Three fights with Ward, no knockouts...

Yeah that is a good point.

His knockout victories came against blown up feathers and lightweights and he has gone the distance with guys with suspect chins.

HCP is a natural lightweight but he recently moved up to 140. He obviously carried his power knocking out Marco Perez in the first round.

After I saw what he did to Vlad Mativsky that guy is a monster.

I'll finally vote and say Juan Lazcano.

If you see him fight a 140 lber in the future....dont be suprised if he knocks them out with a nasty left hook.

And I obviously left out Julio Diaz and Junior Witter. Why I dont know. This whole idea of power is a subjective matter.

People who have not seen these fighters on a regular basis may underestimate their punching power.

And In my defense for including PBF.....his current victories at the 140 pound mark speak for themselves.

If he had more skill I think he could of been a good prizefighter.

Why? He was a journeyman. He usually only fought prospects or other journeyman's like Burton and Gatti (Although I dont class Burton as a journeyman. He's a much better fighter then that).

I forgot exactly how much he earned fighting in the trilogy with Gatti.....but that is the defenition of prizefighter.

Either way I am 100% sure more people know who Ward is as opposed to Wright. That I am sure of.

I think Gabriel Ruleas had a good chin and Gatti knocked him down with a devastating shot. Wilson Rodriguez had a pretty good chin too and same thing Gatti knocked him out with an equally devastating shot.

As for the Ward comment, I have to completely disagree. Micky Ward's chin was amazing to say the least. The guy was knocked out once in 51 pro fights. That is damn impressive. In fact, I think Gatti's power is more impressive when you look at the shot he landed on Ward in their second fight. Dropping Mickey Ward like that shows packs a heavy punch.

With all that being said, I'd if you're looking for a one punch knockout go with Kostya Tszyu. But Gatti is close to me.

I don't know if he was an excellent prizefighter, but he was a great fighter. Great because of his heart, his courage etc...He should be respected because he never backed down and he never quit. So yeah those who call him a club fighter are wrong, but I also don't think he had the natural skill to be a prizefighter.

To me prizefighter is more the ultimate skill guys who have belts, (Mayweather, RJJ in his prime etc...)

Still, Ward was great to watch and I'm glad he got to make big money before he retired because he deserved it. He was in wars before that and took punishment for pride. I also respect the fact that he always stayed around 140, despite his age. He said if you move up as you grow older, it's because you're not working hard enough. A blue collar, working class hero type of guy, that's how I see Ward.
