    What a pity....

Mora had a threefold effect on that fight in all. First, he took the shine away from a great fight and put the spotlight on himself and possible points deductions and 'what if' scenarios that were based on ref decisions rather than fighting. Secondly, he ruined what may have been a fair and great fight from early on by not taking a point early on and possibly stopping it all in its tracks. Third, and this may be the worst part, is that he made Mares look bad by association.

No doubt you are going to hear all the usual stuff of "Mares is a ****", "He shouldn't have won with that corrupt crap" etc etc. The fact is that Mares probably won that fight without the extra point for the low-blow, but we won't really know. I, for one, thought for such a young guy to have fought back to back to back the top three fighters at bantam, and some of the best fighters in the sport full stop, without a loss, showing great heart, will, and skill was hugely commendable.

The effort he put in tonight was different from his usual slow start, strong finish and I think it hurt him a little, but that was one hell of a fight by him.
The problem is that all of that is going to brushed aside because of the ref and promotion team.....it has nothing to do with Mares. His performance, aside from the countless lowblows, was fantastic and I gave him that fight even if he'd had a point taken away for that last 'knock down' lowblow.

It was a real pity that a young, champion with a great showing will have everything dismissed and even be ridiculed because of the ref. What the ref shouldn't take away from the performance of Mares, and yet it will.

Saying all that, Agbeko had his balls beaten to a pulp and we don't know how much that effected his game. To what extent would it have changed had he not been low blowed etc.....

I personally think a rematch is in order with a new ref. Cleaner fight ( I say cleaner because both guys are well known already for their dirty fights; both had shockingly dirty showings against the Batty Crab Darchinyan. Mares and his lowblows and Agbeko and his headbutts that could have shown Bradley and Hopkins a thing or two) with the focus on the fight rather than elsewhere. Would be a great fight I think.

There needs to be an immediate rematch.

I counted atleast one low blow every round for atleast the first 6 rounds.
