I would say 40% were on the belt line, 40% of so-called low blows were caused by Agbeko pulling Mares head down while at the same time he was attempting body shots and 20% were actually low, but not serious fouls which would warrant point deductions or a dq. However the 11th rd was a low blow and it should not have been called a knockdown, that is the one punch which might have warranted a point deduction.
The ref constantly explained to Abgbeko that pulling Mares head down was the cause of the body punches going low and Agbeko should stop pulling Mares head down. If Agbeko would of stopped pulling Mares head down he would not of received low blows. Most fans seem to forget that belt line punches are legal. Fans immediate reaction when seeing a punch land on the trunks automatically assume it is a low punch just because it landed on the trunks. But usually the replay will show it landed on the trunks, but on the belt line of the trunks. It does not surprise me that the moron's on Showtime would forget about this. Some fighters wear their trunks high and when they do more punches that seem low are landed on their trunks, but are legal and Agbeko's trunks were a little bit high.
