  • When Jim Grey was interviewing him after the fight, Mares thanked a bunch of people, and I was hoping Grey would ask him if he wanted to send a special thanks to Russell Mora

    • Wouldn't be surprised if this week it was announced that the ref is suspended like what happened to the judges in the williams-lara fight.

      • Does anyone have a link to the video that Vic Darchinyan sent out to Showtime and the media of all the low blows he took in his fight with Mares? I think Agbeko should do the same thing TBH. I would love to see a slow-mo compilation of how low those blows were and how many there really were in this fight. AND - if Agbeko was really pulling down Mares head enough to cause those low blows (which personally I didn't see happening to an extent to cause them).

It's sad though cause Mares is a nice guy who has a lot of talent and potential to be one of the best at his weight. One fight could have just been a fluke, but back to back fights make it seem a bit more like a developing pattern to me.

Don't know if this is the one Vic made but it shows all the low blows in that fight.

Thanks. Just got done watching this clip in another thread. Although there are some low blows in the Darchinyan fight where Vic had a little pressure on Mares neck - there were also plenty where he didn't. At some point you have to wonder if Mares just doesn't have enough control over his punches (there wasn't dramatic pressure to his head in those instances) or a possibility of him just not giving a **** whether they're low or not.

As I said in my previous post, I'd love to see a compilation of video like this one for the Agbeko fight. Watching it live I don't recall Agbeko pushing down on Mares head that much. He certainly wasn't when the final low blow KD was called.

Mares is a body puncher he likes to go to the body, but it's like he doesn't care if he punches them low.

But it is the ref's job to enforce the rules, Mora had not intention of doing that.

Warning , 2nd warning then maybe a 3rd or take a point of then.

Mares landed 27 low blows and not one point taken off.

Anyway it seems that Mares has been practising this move for a while now.

                • By making TWO BAD knockdown calls against Agbeko and not taking a single point from Mares for repeated low blows, Mora literally took the fight from the rightful winner (Agbeko) and gave it to Mares. That fight should be declared a NC, the belt returned to Agbeko, and a rematch ordered. If it had been properly officiated, Agbeko should have won by a close decision.

Let's just hope that in the rematch, the Ghannian Agbeko channels the spirit of Nelson-Fenech II like he said he was gonna do in this fight. Now he has something to be upset about, the proper motivation for a performance like that, he knows he can't leave it in the hands of judges or bad refs, he must annihilate Mares as Nelson annihilated Fenech and then famously said afterwards 'Fenech is a boy, I am a man' .

I hope to hear a victorious Agbeko soon say: 'Mares is a boy, I am a man'

                  • Sorry guys, not trying to spam. Just wanted to make sure nobody missed Russell Mora's e-mail response to me this morning:

                    Cheers.

                    • I finally got to watch this fight, and it was just ridiculous. I was going to count all the low blows but there were so many that I lost track. When I first heard about how the fight went I thought it must have been for the WBC belt, because Jose Suliman has always pulled shady stuff for as long as he has been involved with the WBC. Russell Mora should not be reffing any more fights after letting Montiel continue after the knockdown from Doniare and the way he reffed this fight was a joke.
