Comments Thread For: Barrett Likely Ends David Tua's Career With Big Win

barrett just collected the 2 WBO regional titles which will put barrett in the top 10 in the WBO if not top 5...barrett trained harder for these 2 fights then he did when he had his good run in the mid 2000s. he obviously won't win any world titles with this win but the 2 belts will set him up for another big payday & fight.tua was # 2 or 3 in WBO so barrett just got his name back in the mix...after solis, ustinov, & haye loses barrett just put his name back on the list & with the 2 WBO belts being from the asian pacific\eastern euro region im assuming barrett will be targeted by guys like kali meehan, leapai & welliver.you can throw in any eastern euro contender as well who is looking for a good ranking via regional title,a decent payday & a name to add to the resume. this re-opened lots of doors for barrett.he may lose his next several fights but lets give him the benefit of the doubt.thats twice he got in great shape to fight a guy everyone thought would destroy him. the key thing is the regional belts he claimed.there is also the chance he vacates the titles instead of defending them in the asia\pacific region...i guess if he wants a nice family holiday over there he could still defend them but him vacating is very possible.Comment

I just "saw" this fight. I got so bored I just played it in 6x speed. What a boring ass fight. How did Monte Barrett win, Paulie Mallignaggi punches harder than Barrett.
Dissapointed in Tua, he shouldve had him out in the 12th, he missed one crazy shot after the KD that wouldve KO'd him but he just hugged it out like a biatch.
I dont think Tua was that good of a fighter but even today he should still win over Monte Barrett.Comment

I don't agree with that, I think Barrett at his best skill-level gives most fighters problems. And both Barrett and Tua are both past their best.Comment
