The closeness of Leonard vs Hagler is way over blown. All Hagler did was chase and then let Leonard throw flashy flurries at the end of rounds you can't win rounds that way

To a lot of American's, SRL is the king of the 1980s. Yet, taking a step back from the intoxication of patriotism, there are questions around SRL's career. For example, did SRL really beat Duran in the rematch? I don't think acting like such a fool that Duran said "Enough of this clown" really redeems the ass kicking he took in the first fight. Hearns was outboxing SRL and was ahead on all the cards in the first fight until the ref stopped it quite prematurely. In the rematch, it was scored a draw even though Hearns won (didn't he knock SRL down twice?) and SRL even said as much. The fight vs Hagler was a farce. Huge ring. Padded gloves. Slapping fluries at the end of each round. Running away all night. Never gave Hagler a rematch. And these are the fights that defined SRL. I will say one thing however, at least he had the courage to get in the ring, even though delays went on for years.
