I still go w/Abner but agbeko did something away from the gym...that's it most cases when you train right and come in less than 1/4 over...

They said that back injury links to his legs. I thought I heard it gives some serious pain to the legs and sometimes makes the leg stiff. I don't think he's 100 percent, either way props to Mares if he wins. Its not Mares's fault his opponent might be having physical problems.
Mares better have a killer instinct, meaning don't go soft because your opponent might have some type of injury. Cotto seem to go a little soft at times against Foreman.Comment

If I was Mares, I would be doing my best BHOP impression, holding his head down hard every time he bent over.
Half pound off weight isn't much, shaving his head might actually help LOL
I would be more concerned that his weight is off because his training was off from the injury, rather than a weight miscalculation.
I don't know, taking a match right after having a sciatica injury seems almost as bad as taking a match after a KO loss. I think the only thing that could help Agbeko is steroids and rest TBH. Not PEDS, but Steroids for his back to heal.Comment

It is hindsight, where did you post Agbeko wasn't going to make weight because of his back? That's the point.
I factored his back issue into play in another thread, but, I didn't link it to him not making weight. As far as I'm concerned, as long as he made weight and there were no reports of him struggling to make weight or experiencing any pain going into the fight, he could outbox Mares, now, it's not an appealing pick at all.

You asked...
I sure did consider his injury. But if training camp is going well and he doesn't feel his back is an issue, then despite Mares being a tough guy, it's possible that Agbeko can outbox him, coming back from a prior injury or not.
This...
...is still too general. How did you know Agbeko wasn't going to make weight due to his back and why didn't you just post that, prior too, [instead of the general comment above] instead of in hindsight?Last edited by deejd; 08-12-2011, 06:33 PM.Comment
