Comments Thread For: Nikolai Valuev Sounds Off: Povetkin Will Beat Chagaev

Nikolai Valuev, a two-time WBA heavyweight champion of the world, has got to know Ruslan Chagaev at his best. In April 2007 - Valuev - hunting down the record of the legendary Rocky Marciano, was soundly upset by the much smaller Uzbek fighter to suffer his first loss. However, Valuev, an avid blogger, considers Alexander Povetkin to be the clear-cut favorite of the collision between two ex-Soviet fighters, which takes its place on August 27 in Erfurt, Germany.

Povetkin will do what you couldn't, is that what you're saying? The fights 50/50 for me, Atlas has made Povetkin worse in my opinion. Chagaev didn't come to just be an opponent for Povetkin, he has come to win.

He's just pissed that Ruslan beat him -- besides, Ruslan is a Tatar. Teddy has killed Povetkin's soul. Ruslan is going to win.

Why does this site still report his comments, he was never really relevant and has not fought in what 2 years now?

Someone should tell Valuev that Chagaev is just 1 year older than Povetkin. But i have no doubt that Povetkin wins.

I might be interested in betting some points on Ruslan if you're interested.

no doubt in my mind sasha wins easy decision.chagaev had a couple good years but too many injuries, health issues & inactivity...even if he wins his options to fight outside of germany are minimal.there are not many countries who will give him a license.

Chags looked awful in his last fight but I don't like to write off an opponent on one bad performance, e****aially when it looks like they haven't trained well for the fight. Against Meehan (whom many also criticised him for) I thought he looked fine, sharp and aggressive. But that was over a year ago now. Chags is a question mark for me at this stage. Maybe the hep has truly destroyed his body, or maybe it hasn't. We'll know on fight night. Povetkin is a question mark as well due to his dire competition of late. Can he step it up again and perform against a fighter who, even though likely past his best, is still a significant leap up from the absolute garbage he's been feeding on?

                    Good analysis from Valuev.

Povetkin will beat the shit out of Chagaev.
