    Did DiBella screw over Martinez?

Maybe there has already been a thread/article on this, but I haven't seen one so...

A while back, there was the whole incident where it seemed that the WBC, Arum and HBO conspired to take the title from Martinez in order to have JCC Jr fight for it. DiBella was pretty pissed about this, understandably so. There were articles, interviews and protests.

The word was that Lou was going to do everything in his power to make sure Sergio got to fight for his old belt asap.

Fast forward a while, and JCC Jr has two fights lined up: Hearns and Manfredo. Neither are Martinez, but both are promoted by Lou.

I figure that there are three possibilities here: the first is that it's a coincidence. The second is that Arum is intentionally putting his big draw up against DiBella fighters because he feels bad about screwing Martinez and wants to be a nice guy because he's such a sweet, kind old gent. The third possibility is that Arum and DiBella have worked out a deal, where DiBella makes a nice bit of change from having his guys fight a big draw like Chavez, and in exchange DiBella stops criticising Arum, HBO and the WBC, and takes Martinez in a different direction, thus protecting JCC Jr.

    What do you think?

I don't believe that Arum feels bad about anything.

And, I also don't think that Dibella will stop criticizing HBO and Arum.

I think it's the WBC who is screwing him.

first he owned both the 154 & 160 WBC titles.
The WBC responded with, "this is not the henry armstrong era, you can only be champion in one weight class. Choose one."

So, Martinez gives up the 154 title.

How does the WBC respond? They take away his WBC 160 title, give him "champion emeritus" status and give him the meaningless Diamond Belt as replacements.

They basically hand over Chavez jr. his WBC title.

They then promise Martinez he would get the first shot at Chavez if he elects to do so. Martinez immediately elects to fight Chavez, and the WBC responds by saying Chavez is allowed another fight first.

The WBC has screwed him time and time again.
