Maybe there has already been a thread/article on this, but I haven't seen one so...
A while back, there was the whole incident where it seemed that the WBC, Arum and HBO conspired to take the title from Martinez in order to have JCC Jr fight for it. DiBella was pretty pissed about this, understandably so. There were articles, interviews and protests.
The word was that Lou was going to do everything in his power to make sure Sergio got to fight for his old belt asap.
Fast forward a while, and JCC Jr has two fights lined up: Hearns and Manfredo. Neither are Martinez, but both are promoted by Lou.
I figure that there are three possibilities here: the first is that it's a coincidence. The second is that Arum is intentionally putting his big draw up against DiBella fighters because he feels bad about screwing Martinez and wants to be a nice guy because he's such a sweet, kind old gent. The third possibility is that Arum and DiBella have worked out a deal, where DiBella makes a nice bit of change from having his guys fight a big draw like Chavez, and in exchange DiBella stops criticising Arum, HBO and the WBC, and takes Martinez in a different direction, thus protecting JCC Jr.
What do you think?
