OK, so Vitali has a guy hurt with the undisputed crown on the line and fails to finish him and this is somehow a negative reflection of the other guy? I'm sure the fight ended in the sixth? So was VK on a pay-as-you-go scheme and couldn't throw beyond two? Or did he only fail to push his advantage in the next rounds but he also got smacked himself and his skin didn't hold up?
This is no direct pop at you, we don't know each from Adam, but this is a specialist boxing site full of so-called knowledgeable fans with Internet access so there's zero excuse for failing to understand the difference between a 'lucky' finish and a clean TKO. I have the exact same reaction to those people who think that James Toney threw a single left hook in his fight with Nunn and got lucky in that one. It is pure nonsense.Last edited by Neckodeemus; 08-11-2011, 09:55 AM.Comment

Well said,i cant believe some of the rubbish these so called boxing fans come up with sometimesSo did Lewis. They both were at the end of training camps for other fighters, so they both took the fight on 10 days notice. The big difference is that Vit was in great, prime shape while Lewis was in the worst shape of his career and fatter than ever looking at a tune up fight.
But guess what? Lewis still won the fight by TKO. FACT.
Tennis-legend: Are you serious? One fight, which he won by TKO, takes the shine off his entire 50 or so fight career? One in which he beat every single fighter he ever faced and retired as champion having beaten all the greats and young champs to beat? Really?Comment

8. Dump your belts in the trash to avoid fighting a possibly difficult fight at every opportunity.
9. Avoid rematches against dangerous opponents that were beating you the first time at all costs, even when you would earn another $30 million.
10. Promise a rematch so you don't look like scared, hold the titles for over a year while promising the rematch just so you can still claim that you are the HW champ of the world and milk it for all its worth, then have your mother meet your opponent, and have your mother make the decision not to face that opponent for you.
11. Still be sour as hell 7 years later and "advise" almost every single opponent of a particular family on how to try to beat that family.
That about covers it...Comment

Lennox was training to "come back" again this year, and again didn't follow through for one reason and one reason only. He knows his daddy Vitali is waiting to spank him again if he does come back.
Otherwise, he'd be back in a flash.Comment

Interesting. Firstly Lewis didn't drop his belts in the trash, that was Rid**** Bowe. Secondly Lewis retired eight months after the win over Vitali, not 'over a year'. Thirdly he isn't exactly sour over the win, Vitali acted like an even more deranged version of Glen Close from Fatal Attraction for years and has done piss all to enhance his historical standing.8. Here is a link to Lennox's ring record, you can grab Vitali's from it, please peruse them in order to avoid further errors as they detract from your points! http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hum...1853&cat=boxerComment

And Lewis was coming back strong in the 5th and 6th, also had Vitali badly hurt after repeated uppercuts as Vit was coming in trying to hug Lewis and he (Vitaly) was holding on for dear life.Comment

Horsecrap. The problem for you is that the fight is easily accessed on Youtube. At no point is Vitali ever "holding on for dear life." He walked right through a massive Lewis uppercut that hit him clean on the chin. At the end of the last round, the HBO team note that it looks like LEWIS is too exhausted to continue.Comment

Yep, and after taking a shot in the second Lewis' legs wobble and he blocks the next one, takes a few steps back and gets out of range.
Vitali is unusual for a heavy in that he has some late KO wins but these came against modest opposition so cannot be automatically carried over to make the claim that he'd have KO'd Lewis.Comment
