Chad Dawson is not as great as he could or can be. I got more faith in Hopkins then I do Dawson. Dawson doesn't let his hands go much either and that will allow Hopkins to dictate the fight.

hopkins could have dictated that fight a lot more. almost everytime he threw lead punches he hit calzaghe and stopped him in his tracks. his defensive countering strategy should have worked if the judges were competent but in boxing that's hardly ever the case. i think if the fight was in the uk he would have went for it a lot more just like he went for it a lot more against pascal. calzaghe was wise to avoid the rematch and retire.

Bottomline is that Hopkins played it too safe and thought he was ahead on the score cards like he did with Jermaine Taylor. All 3 of them fights were his and he let the ball drop on 2 of them because I actually thought he won the first Taylor fight. Hopkins should have let it out against Calzaghe because that fight was by far a very important one but speed tends to disrupt Hopkins rhythm.

Dawson should be able to finally and thankfully retire BHop -- he should take almost every round and might very well stop him -- if he can't do that, then HE should retire!
