Former Cuban amateur standout Odlanier Solis (17-1) is set to return to action on October 14th in Germany. On March 19th "La Sombra" was hit and went down at the end of a competitive first round against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko. His knee gave out and during the fall he suffered various injuries which forced him to undergo three surgeries in March and April.

Similar to Nicky Cook the other week, that was a weird ass injury Solis had.

And I don't think Solis 'proved' he could beat Vitali in what was 40mins of ring walks, 3mins of action. The AC/DC song at the beginning lasted longer than the fight.

I love how fighters who got dominated by Vitali Klitschko claim it'll be easy to beat him if they had a next time. After the bouts.. you didn't hear them say a word...it's when they've had a chance to lick there wounds they start opening there trap & completely embarassing themselves with there utter denial.. trust me Kevin Johnson & Solis DON'T want any part of a sequal.. they can all talk like they do but at the end of the day no one has ever granted Vitali Klitschko a rematch as they sign a no rematch clause AFTER the fight.

Funny how they don´t recall Solis´knockdown and how both legs wobbled and that he wasn´t able to put weight on the left leg (healty one) when he was trying to get up

Having said that, I think Solis has a lot of talent and propably is one of the best contenders. Much more respect to him if he had told it like it is.

Solis is using Hayes **** talking strategy to get what he wants. My question to Solis is..Why did you injure your knee? because you fell. Why did you fall? because you got punched on the side of your head and dropped. Simple as that.

Vitali's statement after his 1st round knockout win over Solis:

"I was inside the ring and I saw many, many times on video - the fight, and there is only one clear answer. I prepared the punch, half uppercut/half hook. I prepared this punch and I feel that I hit him pretty hard. Solis was knocked out, what happened after that, where he breaks his ligaments or his knee - it's his problem. I'm sorry the fight was so short. The next fight, I promise not to hit my opponent for the first three rounds, and then I'll knock him out. With Solis there are no excuses, this was a knockout punch"

Getting outworked, outlanded, and backed up while doing absolutely 0 damage and being KO'ed in round 1 by the best punch of the fight clearly proves you can beat a guy...What a fraud. I dont get how reporters let these guys get away with this nonsense. Man, if Hide, Gomez, and Sanders had gotten knocked out in round 1 instead of later rounds, I wonder if they would have thought Vitali was easy to beat too.

I remember that Gomez fight really well because it was clear to me Vitali had another gear the entire time and he turned it on when he wanted to. That whole fight Vitali looked too relaxed to me, almost bored in the ring, then an accidental head butt got him deducted a point (****** WBC rule) and he got mad and crushed Gomez and made the coward turn his back.

If Vitali had been hurt, if he thought he was in trouble do you think he would have been so upset that you quit? Dont you think he would have been like "Woah...that was lucky...this guy was better than I thought."

Vitali's right, as noted several times in fights doesnt turn over to middle rounds usually. He more just throws it out there early to measure what will work and what wont, and then he takes note of that later...he actually hits much much harder as the fight wears on because he has measured and determined what will work. Not putting much behind early shots that are blocked or slipped also allows him to throw more later and put more on his shots later.

9 of Vitali's last 14 fights have ended with him knocking out his opponent in the 8th round or later. 1 was the Lewis fight, 1 was Briggs which should have been stopped in the 10th or even before, 1 was Solis who fell over, 1 was Johnson who just survived.

Vitali is a thinking mans puncher. He's not Tyson who runs in their wild or Lewis who will punch when he gets the opening, Vitali is constantly setting you up and planning, measuring and building. If something works he will keep doing it till you stop it.

For once, Solis impressed me with the skills he demonstrated in the ring with Vitali. What annoyed me is that he chose to fight knowing his knee wasnt 100%.

My thoughts is that a rematch would see, bearing in mind Vitali gets past Adamek which im confident he will, Solis get beaten in the later rounds. Late stoppage or the decision.
