It is for these reasons that the dose and duration of systemic steroids should be minimized whenever possible. Some side effects can be decreased by taking systemic steroids every other day instead of daily, even if the total dose is the same. Many of the side effects are reversible if the steroids are stopped, while other side effects may be permanent.
Side effects of long-term steroid use includes:

    Diabetes mellitus
    Obesity
    Acid reflux/GERD
    Osteoporosis
    Myopathy
Increase in certain types of infections
    Cushing syndrome

    stay away from drugs kids!!!

Hey genius, these side effects are for corticosteroids, not anabolic steroids. How the hell is obesity a side effect of anabolics? Use your brain.

I'm not sure about this acid reflux relating to steroids....but lets be honest with ourselves, you don't start aging and all of a sudden become a freak of nature. Its very few boxers you see go from a good fighter to be mentioned in with the greatest of the sport.

Now that I think of it, there are athletes who surprisingly became freaks of nature...Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire, Roger Clemens, Bill Romanoski....etc...lol....clearly these guys were eating more than just Popeye's spinach...

it's not just food that causes it. I've changed my diet several times and nothing really has helped, except the latest medication I'm on. I've been a vegetarian for a while now, no acidy fruits etc and I still have the problem from time to time that even the medication doesn't help. It can be a hereditary condition as well. My biological mother had the same problem at an early age.

Unless you have it, people don't realize how terrible of a feeling it can be w/o the right medication. It literally can feel like you're having a heart attack. It was scary for a me a few times. All the exact same symptoms of a heart attack. Scary stuff at the time.

As for pacquiao, I've heard people tell me eating "7,000 calories a day" or however much he eats when he's in a training can be pretty bad for your stomach, etc. and that can actually cause it or trigger it alone.
