i dont have a problem with a boxer asking for more dough. he should have asked for more money up front insted of signing the contract. i dont buy he didnt know how much he was getting until very late. he says he dont care but really he does. 50k is light but to cut out at the last min is just poor and weak.

First of all, the average middle-class American makes between $4-$8 million in their working lifetime, and they don't get taxed up the wazoo like those in the higher brackets.

Second, that $1.35 million will be less than 40% of that by the time his agent, his promoters, his handlers, his accountants, his lawyers, Uncle Sam, etc., all dip their hands into the pot.

Third, he then has to make that money last for 8-12 months while working out another fight; which, by the way, requires promotion and training that he has to put money into.

Finally, there are very few people in the world who can do what professional athletes do. The average person isn't fit enough, could NEVER draw in people, and they aren't nearly as efficient or entertaining.

When folks like us (you) complain about how much they make, you clearly know nothing about what these guys and girls go through to get to that level of success.

When you become the face of a company that puts butts in seats, lands big accounts, and drives the force that pulls in multi-million dollar establishments, you can get paid like they do too. When you go through the training, 90 hour work-weeks, develop the skill sets that so few people have and manage to be very good in an industry that requires rare and special talents, in which there are very few openings, you can get paid like they do too.

Until then, shut up, and keep asking people if they want fries with that.

I'm so tired of the media, politicians, and know-nothing citizens complaining about the wealthy purely from misinformation and envy.

The above poster is Kelly. But you're wrong Kelly, you don't sell tickets. They said you only sold 1,000 tickets to your event. Thats worse then Andre Berto's fights.

I hope we seen the last of Pavlik. I can give a crap about him now and I was a big fan of his until last week and especially after reading this. I hope he doesn't get ANY fights! let him drink his money away! What a damn fool.

If I ran a red light in Youngstown, Ohio I'd be a big name too. I think there are more people in my neighborhood than its entire 70,000 population count.

He isn't a big draw and never really was either but deserves more than 50k, but it is his fault for not knowing what he was getting paid until so close to the fight and he has handled it badly as a result may not get another big fight thus ending his career.

Pavlik is more of a carnival attraction a circus freak and a sideshow looking like some tattoed idiot with a 3rd grade education. but when this Pavlik moron quits he gets noticed. Never really relevant or a crowd pleaser Pavlik is done and the US says bye bye loser.
