Oscar beat the crap out of a 33 year old JCC. What version of JCC would have beaten the 1996 DLH? The one against Taylor?, the one against Roger? The one against Whitaker? Which one. Please, any unbiased fan, answer this question. Not that the answer matters, it's just fantasy talk now, they fought twice and two TKO's happened. Of course, a younger JCC would have fought better, but beat that version of Oscar? No. I don't think so.
We can speculate all we want, but the only thing we know for certain is that a prime Oscar was better than an over the hill Chavez. If the situation was reversed, I'd give Chavez a good shot against an over the hill Oscar (especially the version that showed up against Pac).
People often criticize Chavez for the losses he suffered at the end of his career, but he was already a 25 title fight veteran going into his fight with Whitaker. He was not at his best by that point. Although Whitaker would have always been a bad style matchup for him. Anyway, it's impressive that he had such a long career especially given his style of fighting.
chavez fans will say he wasnt prime and stuff....but they cannot say that vs frankie randall........and **** the sd decision and the second fight, chavez got a gift there, the 3rd fiht was meaningless...farnkie randall is chavez's daddy
Of course they can, Chavez peaked in 1987 against Rosario at 135. He didn't fight Randall until 1994.
Randall got screwed, the ****** WBC with their headbutt rules, and then not being able to secure a rubber match when it actually mattered.
Chavez would never lose to a fighter like delajoya in his prime. Sweet Pea wouldn't have lost (even thou he won when they fought) to joya had he been in his prime. Camacho in his prime would of whipped the fraud. Felix Strum and Ike Quartey beat him down. And then MAYWEATHER and PACQUIAO made him turn to wigs and fishnet sockings!!!!
