I'm actually siding with Kelly on this one and I don't even like him.
Top Rank and his agent waiting until the last minute to give Kelly a contract for 50K?? If that's true, then that's just evil!
If Shane Mosley could get approx. 7 mil to fight Pacquiao after looking like crap against Floyd and Sergio Mora, then Pavlik should not be getting 50K to fight in his hometown!! PERIOD!!
Against Bute, 1.3 mil was a guarantee. So Kelly stood to make much more. And Kelly could be dead wrong about Kessler receiving 3 mil offer for Bute.Last edited by adp023; 08-03-2011, 11:22 AM.

It's funny. Pavlik claims that he found out only a week ago that he was making $50K for this fight. So you're telling me that not once in the previous weeks/months did he not think to ask what he was making for the fight? How about when Pavlik signed the CONTRACT to fight?
Pavlik willingly signed a 2-fight contract WITHOUT knowing the amount of money he would be receiving?
Promoters are shady, however clowns on this sight will use any opportunity they can to disparage Top Rank.
I like Pavlik, but this mess is all on him. It is his responsibility to know how much he is making, where his money is going, and exacly what's happening in his camp.
Aside from that, it is ridiculous that he thinks he is worth more than the deal he is backing out of. Pavlik should be thrilled that TR was able to land a fight with Bute at this point in KP's career. Hopefully Pavlik figures it out.

Pavlik is a fucking wanker. Take whatever your offered for a measly tuneup fight when you're trying to recoup from a horrendous downfall. Especially when said tuneup could lead you into a title shot you don't deserve. How many fights has this guy backed out of now?

A thread discussing Pavlik, and you manage to bring up PBF. You are such a fanboy.

You really need to get off Mayweathers knob. It's not a good look.

Sure, a name fighter should take a paycut for a tune-up fight. But 50K and being told so a week before the fight?? Kelly is right! Though the rest of his career is in jeopardy by making this decision.
Arum previously said he was doing Kelly a favor for getting him a tune-up, but for a 50K purse is insulting. It shows that Top Rank isn't looking out for Kelly at all. Why risk one of your name fighters to lose before a big fight against Bute over 50K??? Was his opponent a total bum?
I expect Arum to fire back through the media today. Let's see what uncle Bob has up his sleeve....Last edited by adp023; 08-03-2011, 11:23 AM.
