And Bradley's last defence of his title, which was recognised by the WBC, was only in January, and was against an opponent whom every single credible independent rankings had at either #2 or #3 in the division at the time.

The vast majority of sports reporters call the alphabet title holders "the world champion", which is ridiculous, because by definition it is only possible for there to be one world champion in any division at a given time. They should refer to them as alphabet title holders or some similar phrase, and make it clear that the world champion is the lineal champion or where there is none, that the world championship is vacant. If all journalists did that, the problem would instantly become dramatically less of a problem - and fighters would suddenly start fighting for the lineal title, which they mostly don't do at present, because the fans would then be educated enough to demand it.
Too many good points to cover here.....

Dave, I might be wrong, but didnt I read about a week ago, that the WBC breached their own rules when they stripped Bradley?

I heard that the WBC can only strip after 12 months of inactivity, and that their rules permit an extension that can even extend past the 12 month period?
