I can not understand why people always try to compare Khan to Hatton, Please do not compared the skilled and sophisticated Khan with the unskilled face first brawler, braggart and drunkard that was Ricky Hatton.
There is a huge disparity in skill and class between Khan and Hatton, Even in the fans you will find Khan fans tend to be middle/upper class urban socialites whereas Ricky Hattons were skinhead simpletons and football hooligans.
The difference betwen Khan fans and Ricky Hatton fans: Khan fans drive to work in a BMW, wear a suit and tie and work at a desk 9-5pm, Ricky Hatton fans go to work by bus and wear a uniform with a name badge and work at a counter at strange hours.
Khan has never and will never get a fraction of the media coverage that Hatton got because he does not appeal to the same people. Hatton appealed the undereducated and underprivileged working class of the country who viewed Hatton as "One of the commoners", Khan is a complete anathema he appeals to the educated and privileged who see him as the "Golden Boy" of British boxing.
The only thing that Hatton and Khan share in common is a passport and I think that might change soon if Khan becomes an American citizen which I expect he will. They are different classes of boxers, different races, different religions, different backgrounds. Anyone who compares Khan to Hatton does Khan a great injustice and dis-service.
Please stop it!
