BORI JR No, i don't believe that taking the rest of the year off is the right move. If the Salido fight doesn't come off until next year then Juanma should tune himself up, work on a few otf the bad habits he has during his fights and keep his weight down as well. Juanma body had been going to changes as he's matured, especially during the last couple of years and the weight is boming increasingly more difficult to shed. I heard this from one of Alex Caraballo's assistants. Caraballo is one of Juanma's chief trainers along with Pineiro. He needs a tune up fight against a durable opponent, not some 'one round" pushover, so he can work on his flaws. I don't think he needs a 'confidence builder' fight because Juanma has plenty of that and HEART.

Sorry how he wasn't pushing to this hard to fight Caballero, Was content on fighting wartorn boxers and finally one of them bite him in the asss.. Respect for chasing the rematch that quick but am glad he got KO by one of the " Safe fight" he thought he can have.Comment

But it proves that if he is chasing a guy who TKO'd him, balls or the lack of, are clearly not his issue.
His disinterest in Caballero had more to do with Cab's suckiness as a fighter.Comment

I don't think JuanMa needs to take time off to work on his defense. It's his approach that needs changing. Lopez has defensive skills; he just chooses to brawl sometimes. That doesn't work for everyone. JuanMa is tough, but he's not tough enough for that style. He needs to stay focused.
Salido wants that big payday versus Lopez; bet that. I'd be shocked if he let JuanMa move up and lose that opportunity. Orlando may or may not be able to move up to 130 effectively. More importantly, it upsets his position. At 130, he's not a champ anymore. The game changes for everyone.
I see your points but I honestly think he is better off with a few more months off. At least the remainder of the year and use the time to work on his flaws (as we agree he has) in the gym. Not a vacation in which he will gain rust. Look at JUANMA's last 5 fights which were within a 18 month time frame.BORI JR No, i don't believe that taking the rest of the year off is the right move. 1. Mtgawa (weight drained and Juanma was fighting for his life late- was
taking alot of shots)
2. Leuvano
3. Concepcion (Knock down early)
4. Marquez (rattled a bit and got caught with great shots)
5. Salido (Knocked out - hurt from rounds 5-8)
If we look at it, he has taken alot of good shots lately and I honestly think if Salido wants to delay, he should just not sweat it and move up to 130 as he had planned. Even if he was to stay active, we know his camp wants a "durable fighter" to help work on his flaws but we wont get that. Juanma will be given a couple a "pushovers" like you said and He'll probably KO them in 1 -3 rounds and IMO will remain the same Juanma we have seen.....Vulnerable. I say if no Salido, get back in the gym and work on his bad habits, prepare for a quality opponent (durable fighter)at the start of 2012 at 130lbs, and then look to become champion at 130 by summer of 2012. Eventually, Salido knows the money fight is with Juanma and will eventually fall into Juanma's lap again.Last edited by boricuajr23; 07-30-2011, 07:45 AM.Comment

I am Chicano and I like Puerto rican fighters I have no haterade in my veins I think Salido needs to stop his nonsence already. Juan Ma give him a shot at his titles and Salido is acting like a jack ass. I still think Salido wins in a rematch unless Lopez tries to out box him Juan leaves him self wide open all the time he needs to work on his game a little bit. But he needs to move on if he doesn't get the rematch but he's a fighter and he wants his get backs.Comment
