Anyways, if he is a blown up WW, then he should be able to make the 147 limit, therefore he can fight Pac and Floyd and 147 if he is really is interested in fighting them!!!

I call bull**** on this thoough, MArtinez came in at 170 pounds vs Dzinziruk, so i doubt he can even make 154 safely!!!!

    This is just sad!!!
What's so outlandish about calling out Pac n Floyd at 154? As I recall they both have title wins at Jr Middle Weight... if they deserve any credit for those, they should have no problem fighting at 154 so find better excuse to hate

So there gonna have him fight 2 times out of the year instead of 3.
All you guys asking for Pirog and Rubio are acting is if these guys are monsters. Sergio would beat both of them easily. Pirog has decided to fight in Eastern Europe. I don't care what his people say, Pirog's last fight was in Eastern Europe and his next fight is as well. How do you want to make an impression if you don't even fight on this continent? And Rubio, Rubio is too damn scared to even mention Martinez's name, all he wants is Chavez. Of course he does, thats a winnable fight.

And all you guys asking why Sergio is calling out guys who are smaller than he is, it's simple, he's 37 years old and wants a payday. Who the hell here wouldn't be calling out a fighter if they knew than can make over 5 million dollars.

You all must not have a great memory either, but Bernard Hopkins became famous and millions fighting smaller guys. Nobody knew who the hell Hopkins was until he fought Trinidad, He then fought De La Hoya. Two natural welterweights.

Also, if you know anything about boxing you'll also know that Marvin Hagler did the same thing with Leonard, Duran and Hearns. So did Carlos Monzon with Jose Napoles. All these fighters were smaller.

So if you know anything about boxing, you'll know that this has occurred with the great middleweight boxers of all time.

The point is that it is ridiculous to say that they are ducking Martinez. They should not be chastised. Let's see Sergio try to beat up Andre Ward. Just because fighters in the past have come to this agreement doesn't mean it should be demanded. Sergio would just get too much credit for beating them. It would be bull****.

I didn't say Manny or Floyd was ducking Martinez. I said that history has shown that great welterwights have moved up to challenge the middleweight champion. That what Sergio is doing by calling Manny and Floyd is nothing new. And that it's understandable that a guy who has put years of work in a sport should want a big payday. What I said was it's no so crazy for Manny and Floyd to move up to 160 to fight Martinez. They don't have to, of course, but you never know.

Nobody accused Hopkins of cherry picking or picking on smaller fighters when he would call out Trinidad and De La Hoya out on a daily basis.

Hopkins did it. Monzon did it. Hagler did it. And those three are probably in the top five or top 10 middleweight of all time.

yeah but these fighters sergio is calling out are at their max weight already, they've come up from almost 40lbs below their initial fighting weight. of the two, i can see floyd able to hang w/ sergio at 154, he's got a much larger frame than pac.

He is still ducking Pirog I see. And he said he would have to cut off a leg to make 154. As soon as he gets beat by someone legit at 160 hes gonna be like "I was weight drained."

The excuses never end with this guy.

I completely understand why Sergio is doing it: it makes great financial sense and it cements his legacy. The reason for the forum was to clear the air on the issue of Mayweather and Pac being EXPECTED to move up and fight Martinez. It's more about them being expected to fight him than it is about Martinez challenging them in the first place. I don't think it should be a blackmark at all, and some people seem to think it is a problem.

You have got to be kidding me. Sergio either needs to move up to 168 or shut the *** up for good. U can't run around blabbing your mouth about guys 2 weight classes below you, and then use the "size is too much" argument the very next day. If ur not willing to do something, don't run around *****ing and moaning because no one else is willing to do it either. The guy wants to have his cake and eat it too. It's all good when he's got a 20-30 pound advantage in the ring, but not the other way around? I just lost a lot of respect for martinez.
