I used to love Donaire, but once I realised he was using Conte as his doctor, I lost all respect for him.

He is still a sick boxer, he deserve to number 3 p4p, but I just don't trust him. I want him and Gamboa to fight. Is that ever going to happen???

I have no clue, but they have been wrong before. Yea I must admit, I'm jumping the gun a little on Russell, but his speed really is impressive. I want to see his chin tested, and I want to see him against better opposition.

Speed is great in boxing but that alone is not enough. I would imagine Russell beating Donaire tbh, but I also believe that Russell could get exposed if he faced better fighters himself. Speed looks better vs someone who is there to be hit easily.

I think Russe'ls speed is so good that people forget that he is also pretty technically solid. 'tellin you guys, this is a pickem fight.

Right now I'd go with Donaire. But it could be something special in a year or so.

@ 126 Don will be fighting someone closer to his natural size. He will have less power, his speed wont be as impressive and the guys he will be fighting will have more punch resistance.

Russell is already faster than Donaire and he is heavier, so it would be Donaire who would have to train harder to keep his speed and power.

Great post. I remember posting in another thread about how Donaire has taken clean, flush shots from Montiel and Darchinyan at the lighter weights and when he does happen to move up, he's going to have to rely less on his natural ability and good beard. The punches he receives will be heavier and like you said, the punch resistance of his opponents are going much tougher to deal with.

I doubt Donaire would run through Russell. I'm pretty sure he hits like a mack truck, by the way, don't be fooled by the highlight of his fight last weekend. I'm not saying that Donaire wouldn't win, just saying he wouldn't destroy Russell.

There is no way in hell Russell would get destroyed, you are 100% correct about that. Like I said, this is a fight that should be made in the future.
